Klub Futbolniy Stoliçnağa is a Gregahouvian association football club based in the nation's capital, Stolitsemlağa. The club competes in the Premyer Liga, the top flight of football clubs in the country's league tier system. Stolitsemlağa plays its home games in the Park Narodniy, located in the southeast side of the capital city. Historically one of the most successful Gregahouvian professional football clubs, CFC Stolitsemlağa has won seven Premyer Liga titles since the league's founding in 1985, tying fellow Premyer Liga side KF Almata for most top flight trophies won to date.
History
Founded as Club Football Ctoliçnağa in 1962 as a consolidation of multiple football sides from the Tatneft workforce in the capital, the then-semiprofessional side played regularly against other makeshift clubs locally in what is now Stolitsemlağa. Although spoken of today by its correctly-spelled name in the Latin writing system, with an abbreviation of KFS, the team formally retains its original spelling of CFC, a crude transliteration from the Cyrillic script to the modern Latin. The original name is kept as an homage to Gregahouvian revolutionaries, who used the Latin script strategically against Soviet officials who were illiterate with the foreign writing system, but normally with the capital city's name featured at the end.
CFC Stolitsemlağa ceased play throughout the country's decade-long war for independence, and resumed formally after the war as an original founding member of the Premyer Liga in 1985. Since joining the league, the club has become one of the most successful Gregahouvian football clubs to date, winning seven championships with one as recent as 2016-17, and remaining in the league as one of only two clubs to have never faced relegation to the Toroy Liga.
Additionally, from 1981 until spring of 1985, Stolitsemlağa served as the country's national football team, prior to the creation of the nation's governing body for football. The 1982 team played only one international match, an unsanctioned friendly against Bermuda, in which the Gregahouvian side lost by a score of four points to one.
Rivalries
As one of the largest football clubs in the nation, CFC Stolitsemlağa has formed multiple rivalries since the founding of professional football in the country. Historically, the club's most notable rivalry is that with fellow Stolitsemlağa club AK Severskiy. A crosstown derby, matches between the two clubs have drawn some of the highest attendance figures in Premyer Liga history, with the all-time attendance record of 39,050 being attributed to the 2012-2013 league final between the two. However, CFC Stolitsemlağa has ultimately seen the most dominance in its crosstown derby, with a total of 47 wins to Severskiy's 22. In the 21st century, one of the most high profile Premyer Liga match-ups has been that of Stolitsemlağa and KF Almata, due to the large success both clubs have had in recent times. Since 2005, Stolitsemlağa has bested Almata by a total of 16 games to 11. As the two teams with the largest fanbases in Gregahou and Porte Nouvelle, respectively, CFC Stolitsemlağa also enjoys high-profile matches against AS Porte Nouvelle. Gregahou's oldest, most successful football club with the most media relevancy, CFC Stolitsemlağa is often negatively dubbed the "Real Madrid of Gregahou," and fans of other teams regularly refer to the club as "Kafis," a pejorative play on words pointing to the team's endearing incorrect phonetic nickname "Sevse" (the letters CFC spelled out).
