IFK Brekket is a Normarkian professional football club based in Brekket, Brekket that plays in the professional league Elitetoppen. Nicknamed the "White and blues", due to the colors of their emblem and home kit, the club was created in 1933 when the local hockey team named IFK Brekket HK wanted to have a summer activity for its players. The team joined the amateur league Div. 5 Brekket, the lowest tier of Normarkian football in 1939. The team initially struggled to rise in the divisions and they didn't manage to reach higher than the third highest tier before the 70s. When the league system changed, IFK Brekket was one of the teams got a free promotion to the tier above them, which happened to be the second highest tier at the time. During the 70s they managed to establish themselves as a professional team and establish their rivalry with the top Brekket teams at the time, Brekket Union (formerly Brekket IS) and IFK Walden. After placing third during the 75 season they managed to qualify to the highest tier of Normarkian football for the first time after winning the qualification games against IFK Walden (1-0) and BK Koppang (5-1). IFK Brekket would establish themselves as a top team during the late 80s when they won the championship twice in a row and came second the year after. The team had a huge crisis during the late 90s when their economy was weak and they got relegated down to the fourth highest tier in less than a decade, during a part of Brekket sport history that's known as Brekket's dark age of football. The team would economically revover during the 2000s and they would be back in the highest tier again in 2011, now playing in Elitetoppen. They have won one championship since, in 2017 and they also managed to get a medal at the Champion's cup in x.
The team plays at Hennerås Stadion in the district of Hennerås in Brekket, Brekket.
