Early life and education
Ashleigh Khanna was born on 20 October 1964 in Harborough, Westcliff, to a Bahian mother and a Marathi father. Her mother, Adaeze Otieno, was a marine biologist who immigrated to Valentir in 1960. Her father, Kumaran Gadhavi Khanna, is a Middleton University economics professor who emigrated from Mathrabumi in 1961 for undergraduate study in economics at Fairfax University, Valeins.
Khannas' family lived in Valeins, Vallois, where both of her parents attended undergraduate school. She was close to her fraternal grandfather, N. G. Khanna, a Marathi diplomat. As a child, she often visited her extended family in the Besant Nagar neighborhood of Sirand, Mathrabumi. She grew up going to both a Solarian Catholic church and a Marathi temple. She has one younger sister, Jessalyn Khanna.
Khanna began attending primary school in 1970 at St Richard's Collegiate Girls' School in Valeins. Her parents divorced when she was seven, and her mother was granted custody of the children. After the divorce, when Khanna was 12, her mother moved with the children to Haussimont, Talissieu, where Adaeze accepted a position doing research at Haussimont General Hospital and teaching at Poirot University. Khanna was enrolled at a neighborhood school for native Gaullican speakers. After graduating in 1981, Khanna majored in political science and economics at Fairfax University, Valeins. At Fairfax, she was elected to the liberal arts student council as novice class representative, was a member of the debate team, and joined the Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority.
Khanna returned to Westcliff, where she earned her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Middle University in 1989. She was admitted to the Westcliff Bar Association in 1990.
