Elizabeth Grantham's United party secured reelection, however with a significantly reduced majority, largely due to particularly high inflation and unemployment. Social Labour suffered a significant defeat, with Michael Boxtridge losing his position as Leader of the Opposition to Charles Johnson of the Liberal Party.
