Kitagasi, officially the Province of Kitagasi is one of the 15 Tayichian territorial subdivisions of the highest order, covering 26,465 square kilometers (10,218 sq mi), the sixth highest overall. It has a population of 1.5 million, the third smallest.
Tano is the capital and largest city, while other larger cities include Miyazaki, Kawaminami and Hoji. Kitagasi is bordered by Samui to the southwest, Kitai to the west, Wanagazi to the north and the Mediriman Ocean to the east. It covers the middle section of the Sōdai mountain range, while also bolstering the second tallest Tayichian peak. Due to its harsh terrain and lack of space for human development, it is the third least densely populated province. Its economy grew quite dependent on winter tourism over the recent decades, being the second largest province in the industry after Nanpogasi.
