It was founded over 2000 years ago during the Bishnu War for Independence by Myo Myat Phyo, close friend of Ram Acharya and skilled Burmese military general. The Gurkha Union is a world renowned military organization for it's expertise in guerilla warfare, winter combat, and high elevation combat.
The Gurkha Union currently fields around 30,000 soldiers, accepting both men and women into their ranks.
History
Early Gurkhas in the First Yangchenian Empire
The first written records of Gurkhas were discovered in Yangchenia, where ancient historian Pu Yue wrote about fearsome warriors residing in the nation's far north, in the Himalayan Mountains as early as 2990BC. He called them "Gurdeku" meaning "Descendants of Gurdek", son of Dawagin Chayu, an ancient warlord residing in Xanadu.
On Kanchenjunga's face holds dear
A horde of terror, strength and fear
Who never bows and never bends
Who never surrender until the end
Men baptised in blood and war
Women trained to kill with gore
For Tiamat's glory they fought
To heretics, death they wrought
Showing off the scars they bore
They scream, "Let them hear the Dragon's roar!"
For when the kin of Gurdek implore
That the world shall belong to them once more
Thy will be done - for the glory days of yore!
- Gurdekus - Accounts of Pu Yue (2990BC)
The Gurdekus were closely allied to the First Yangchenian Empire under the Guul-la Dynasty, both believing in the existence of Tiamat as the Mistress of the Four Dragons. In 2980BC, negotiations between the Yangchenian Kingdom and the Nomadic Gurkhas ended in the Covenant of Yaing, a treaty mandating that both Yangchenia and the Nomadic Gurkhas help each other in war.
Gurkhan Participation in the war against Azunga
After the Azungan Empire's invasion of Yangchenia, the Gurkhas sent a force of 3000 men in support of Yangchenia, fighting alongside the Yangchenian army of 7000. The Gurkhas scored numerous victories, most notably the Battle of Bar Nang, where a force of 170 Gurkhas held off a force of 3400 Azungans.
In March of 2975 BC, they reached the Azungan capital of Garjin, and along with the Yangchenian and the armies of neighbouring Mahati, proceeded to burn the city to the ground and take as many slaves as they could. The Azungan War proved to be a major victory for the Gurkhas, their influence spreading beyond just the Himalayas.
Gurkhas in the Nomadic Period
Gurkhas largely were self-sufficient during the Nomadic Period between 1800 and 1500 BC, with the only major Gurkha run nation being the Yugiin Clique, which disbanded after only 25 years of existence in 1760BC.
Gurkhas in Bishnu Pradesh
The Gurkhas played a significant role in the founding of Bishnu Pradesh, backing the Ramleks during the First Sikkim War. They easily overwhelmed the weak Pol-en and Azungi forces, and after the war's conclusion, helped draft the agreement which would form the Union of Bishnu Pradesh. When Bishnu Pradesh was founded in 1200BC, the Gurkhas served a major rule in the nation's defense, and also heavily participated in the Vietnam Campaign.
Founding of the Gurkha Union
Around 1020 BC, the Gurkhas were placed under the command of Myo Myat Phyo, a Burmese man who is one of the nation's best generals. Phyo knew that the Gurkhas had a lot of potential, and so formed the Gurkha Union, a military organization focused on special operations. Skilled soldiers were placed in the division, where they participated in high profile missions for the defense of the nation.
In 1215 BC, the Gurkha Union would be officially recognized as Bishnu Pradesh's dedicated Special Operations Division by it's then leader, Akumu Vitema.
