Aciorus is an ecumenopolis—a city-covered planet, collectively known as the Galactic Capital, located in the Core of the Talin Galaxy. Noted for its cosmopolitan culture and towering skyscrapers, Aciorus' population consists of trillions of citizens hailing from a vast array of both humanoid and alien species. In addition, Aciorus' strategic location at the end of several major trade routes enabled it to grow in power and influence, causing the city-planet to surpass its early rivals and become the hub of galactic culture, education, finance, fine arts, politics and technology. Serving as the capital of the Galactic Union thousands of years since its foundation, it is the seat of the Galactic Assembly. Aciorus has been at the center of many notable galactic events.

Description

Overview

Located in the Core Region, Aciorus is a planet covered in a dense ecumenopolis. It has two moons and orbits a star called Aciorus Prime. From space, Aciorus's luminosity is slightly dimmed by the planet's hazy cloud cover. The planet's weather patterns were affected by the troposphere-piercing buildings that covered the planet's surface. Inside the tallest buildings, enormous differences of temperature and air pressure from top to bottom produces unusual and unpredictable microclimates.

Thousands of years of development destroyed most of the planet's ancient mountains and seas. Some natural regions such as hills and rivers, since protected by the Galactic Union, do exist, and people are barred from entering. The preservation of Aciorus' last natural environments is seen as a sacred duty by both the planet's inhabitants and by its planetary administration; the Aciorusian philosopher Patan Wirn stated of the preservation in 1092 BHT, "as we conquer stars and seek new worlds, we must never betray the natural wonders of the universe."

Aciorus's surface is defined by its urban sprawl, which collectively is called the Galactic Capital. For tens of thousands of years, city blocks built on top of each other. At its highest level, the Galactic Capital's skyscrapers were built with many reaching 6,000 meters into the atmosphere, with sleek edifices standing next to older structures. As a hustling, bustling planet-wide city with an underworld full of dark alleys and an abundance of people, Aciorus provides the ideal conditions for a thief to prosper, especially targeting tourists from quieter planets.

Galactic Capital was divided into sectors named by designated coordinates. Sectors were further divided into zones, with zones determined by purpose, such as financial, political, or industrial zones.
