The president of the Republic of Mava (Mavean: Mava Repalik Saavajitiit; Almagrian: Presidente de la Republica de Mava) is the head of state and head of government of the Republic of Mava. The president is elected by Congress from among its members to serve for the duration of that congress. The president is chief executive and head of the cabinet, responsible for nominating and appointing ministers and directing the work of the national government.
The first president, Lainal Haatkaani, was elected by the Transitional Congress to take office upon independence in 1970. To date, he is the longest-serving president, serving from 1970 until 1982. There has been one woman to serve as president - Juuitit Tiakan - who served as acting president upon the death of Saarik Aatanani in 1996.
