Ardencross (from Irish Ard na Croise, meaning 'Hill of the Cross') is a major city in western Maltropia. It is the capital of the principality of Carbery.
Ardencross was originally a major hill fort of the Uí Chairbre, under whom it grew to become a major trade centre. In the ninth century it developed into an independent prince-bishopric, holding primacy over the dioceses of west Maltropia. Ardencross Castle remains one of Maltropia's best-known landmarks.
