Freeman was born on May 25, 1964, to John Freeman III (1938-2012) and Valerie Drake (1937-2019). He has a younger brother, John Freeman IV (born 1966). When Freeman was 18 he moved from Saint George to New Cambridge. Freeman attended Northern University of New Cambridge, he graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics.
