Insula Fera (Latin meaning "Wild Island") is an Astyrian archipelago in the Northern Hemisphere. It is bounded by the Strait of Good Hope to the north, the Atlpacinarcticadian Ocean to the east, the Mican Strait to the west and the Mare Ferum to the south. Its nearest neighbours are the Panzermee Confederacy to the northeast and Symphonia to the south, as well as Stretta further west and Khayr Var to the east.
Insula Fera covers an area of about 1,788,300 square kilometers, and is medium-sized landmass in relation to continental bodies within Astyria. As of August 2012, its population was estimated at nearly 125 million people across three countries and one dependent state. Most of the archipelago's land area is inhabited by native tribes, who have rejected mostly the influence of industrialized nations such as the Imperial Spartanian Empire and Aquitayne. The archipelago had, until December 2013, only two independent states which consisted of the formerly referred to nations. The Insula Fera archipelago is the largest archipelago in Astyria by area, but remains one of the smaller areas in terms of population.
The first people believed to live in Insula Fera were Paleoindians who began to arrive during the last glacial period by boat from the island of Stretta. They differentiated into a number of diverse cultures and communities across the archipelago, many losing contact with other communities for hundreds of years. The largest and most advanced Pre-Societal civilizations in Insula Fera were the Bhutan tribespeople in what is now Cape Town. Aquitaynian colonists, under the direction of King Harriet IV, and in cooperation with the now-defunct Royal Colonial Society, began colonizing the southern regions of the archipelago in 18th Century, well after the Colonization Rush of Astyria. Unlike the tactics used by many other nations directed for colonization, such as the extermination of the indigeneous peoples, vast amounts of autonomy were given to the natives and a cooperative mindset was used rather than one of military force. Nevertheless, however, these tactics did ultimately begin an era of Aquitaynian dominance in the region.

Geography
Insula Fera is the largest archipelago in all of Astyria, being 1,788,300 km2. The body lies between latitudes 15° and 40° N, and longitudes 44° and 49° E. Its borders with other nations transcend only via waterways, as it correlates what is defined as the beginning of the Atlpacinarcticadian Plate, which then extends east making up the Atlpacinarcticadian Ocean. To its north through the Straight of Good Hope and the Panzermee Confederacy, to the east by the Atlpacinarcticadian Ocean, and the Aurora Confederacy protectorate state of Khayr Var. To the south it is bordered by the Mare Ferum and the Empire of Symphonia. To the west it is bordered by the Mican Straight and the island-nation of Stretta.
Insula Fera consists of the Insulaian Plateau, with the exception of the islets to the furthest eastern points of the archipelago. It is a relatively mountainous tract of land, with large mountain ranges rising in the central areas of the plateau where the Atlpacinarcticadian Plate meets the Ferum Plate in a Continental-Continental Convergence. The populous south sees rolling hills as a ripple effect of this tectonic plate boundary, and has a large mountain range, the Aizors, which contain the largest mountain on the island - Mt.Triam, at 5,291 meters. Due to the mass of mountains, the northernmost southern regions of the archipelago experience a rain shadow effect, which brings a semi arid climate to the region, whilst the southern coastal areas enjoy a Mediterranean climate.
The northernmost regions of Insula Fera are covered in dense rain forests called Caraam or the Jungles of Prudan. Most of the northern reaches of the archipelago experience a tropical wet climate. The areas just north of the Aizors experience a more arid climate, encompassing the landmasses of Pangus and Prudenesia. These areas contain many lakes and rivers, and likewise contain many of the farms and other agricultural goods of the archipelago.

Until late 2013, the area of northern Insula Fera was comprised of three territories and one State: Nu Sparta, Pangus, and Prudenesia. These three territories all fell under the control of the Spartanian government, which had secured power through a military occupation in early 2012. The Constitutional Monarchy of Aquitayne also established a colonial protectorate on the island in late 2013, after over a century of negotiations with local tribesman and leadership.
There were hostilities over the formation of the protectorate between Aquitayne and NuSparta. In an effort to showcase the Aquitaynian brotherhood with their Feran citizenry, the King ordered the deployment of a Naval Strike Group, which would sail directly down the Mican Straight in a show of force. Unfortunately, the Spartanian government would see it rather as an act of aggression. Though the incident did not lead to armed conflict, it did set the stage for future Aquitaynian/Spartanian relations, however brief they were from that point forward.
Currently, the status of the inhabitants of Insula Fera can be described as mixed. While the Imperial Spartanian Empire once controlled the regions of Pangus and Prudenesia, since the fall of the Spartanian Empire, the nations have fractured under the Heraldan Rebels who are vying for control over the ungoverned nations.
The United Kingdom of Aquitayne and Symphonia have declared the island to be part of a United Kingdom Joint Operations Theater, which effectively renders the designated areas - in their eyes - as a war zone and disallows the formation of any government save for an interim legislature which King Samuel Riech has already stated would be formed as soon as stability was restored to the region.
