Stewart's Tea is an Aswickan brand of tea, coffee, and (hot) chocolate based in Winchester, Aswick. It was founded in 1748, and has had the same address throughout its history.
History
Stewart's was founded by Oliver Stewart of Winchester who opened the country's first tea and coffee business. Initially trading only in large quantities to companies and organisations, the company quickly grew to a size that could afford selling small quantities to individuals as well. This original location is still in use as the company's offices and official shop.[1]
The company received a royal warrant in 1821, when His Majesty Jack the second drank it during a visit to one of his relatives, leaving him thoroughly impressed. Since then, the company has been the sole supplier of tea and coffee to the Aswickan Royals.
In 2015, the company was amongst the first of Aswickan companies to be certified as being completely carbon neutral (in Aswick), having achieved this among things by installing solar panels and solar heating units, amongst other means.[2]
