It is subordinate to IV Corps and is headquartered near the Norcustsur county seat of Hartfer. The division was originally raised as 19th Light Division. During the Army's counterinsurgency efforts in Norcustsur the division's 192 Light Brigade was used to form Brigade Task Force Hartfer. On August 1, 2022 the division was officially redesignated 19th Mountain Division in recognition of its specialized mission set.
