Fanmi (Baptistois Creole for "Family"), until 2017 known as Peyi–Our Republic (Principean: Peyi–Notre République; Baptistois Creole: Peyi–Repiblik Nou an) is a left-wing and Creole interests political party in Saint-Baptiste. Founded in 2006 as an organization for the protection and preservation of Creole culture and language rights, Fanmi's primary goal is the acceptance of Baptistois Creole as an official second language in Saint-Baptiste and the creation for laws that preserve Creole customs and culture. As of 2019, the party holds no seats in the Chamber of Deputies.

History

Peyi–Our Republic was founded on 2 September 2006 as an organization merging various Creole interest groups and NGOs, the largest being the National Union for Creole Speakers. Peyi failed to gain initial success by the 2007 election, and the party garnered a electorate between one and two percent of the vote in subsequent elections. For the 2016 presidential election, Peyi endorsed and cooperated with the Baptistois Labour Party, fielding a single candidate for President.

The party faced a major reformation in 2017 under new leader Martial Lozé, adopting the new name of Fanmi ("Family") and and a platform that embraced green politics and an agenda more solidly to the left. In the last parliamentary election, Fanmi garnered 4.37% of the popular vote, its highest yet.
