The Assassination & Black Operations Unit, commonly referred to as Assassination and Black Ops or simply ANBU is a highly secretive, elite regiment-sized unit of the Intelligence & Special Operations Division of Acronius. Consisting of roughly 2,500 covert operatives directly under the command of the President of the Free Union, the ANBU gained notoriety worldwide in 2004 when knowledge of their existence was first made public via the Wiesel scandal, wherein 355 documents pertaining to the ISOD were leaked. Due to the clandestine and often amoral nature of the ANBU, which were extensively detailed in the leak, public outcry was sparked internationally and nationwide protests ensued in Acronius, forcing President Éloi Leclair's administration to drastically reform the organization, although it remains active to date.
