'''Sveta Zoran''' was born as Sveta Janisewski in the village of Rozbitý Kopec in 1083 to unknown parents. Little is known about her early life as almost all of the village's few records were lost with its destruction by Yurani raiders in 1143. What is known is she married an unknown man at a young age, likely between 10 and 13, becoming a widow shortly thereafter when he died of disease. She remarried fairly quickly to Albrect Zoran, a local blacksmith, and fathered two children with him. The village and surrounding lands were regularly harassed by Yurani raiders crossing the nearby border, leading to a heavy military presence in the area. Despite this, the village was ransacked twice during Sveta's life, during which her parents were killed and her younger sister was either killed or kidnapped. The loss of her younger sister is where many believe she began to despise the government and the army.
In 1107, forces were levied from the area for a campaign into Yurani territory. Sveta's husband and sons were all ordered to join the force despite regulations at the time forbidding the conscription of entire families. She went with them as a camp follower, and this was the last time any of them would see their home village ever again.

In 1107, forces were levied from the area for a campaign into Yurani territory. Sveta's husband and sons were all ordered to join the force despite regulations at the time forbidding the conscription of entire families. She went with them as a camp follower, and this was the last time any of them would see their home village ever again.
