The cause of the disaster was a malfunctioning engine that exploded, causing the pilots to lose control. The plane crashed in the middle of the [[Horseshoe Bay (body of water)|Horseshoe Bay]]. Of the 305 passengers, only 2 survived, seriously injuring the disaster
