In 2013, she announced her retirement from the porn industry stating "I am blessed that I had such a lovely group of fans and supporters. I have moved on from where I was (the porn industry). I don't have any plans as of now to return there."
Mainstream appearances prior to 2010
Dewala's first mainstream appearance was in 2005, when she hosted the the 2005 Tarana Awards, making her the youngest person and only pornstar to have hosted the music award show. She also made several guest appearances in television shows such as Master Detective, The Life of Nirupa, and Terabyte. She participated in the second season of the realitiy TV show Smart and Beautiful in which the participants were all women with university degrees and involved in modeling or the mainstream or pornographic film industry.
In 2008, Dewala took a role in an the mainstream action adventure movie Swashbucklers of the North, which was shot in Knichus. The shooting was completed in two weeks and was released in the winter of 2008. Dewala later said of her role in the film that it was the "worst career decision she had ever made". The film was a critical and commercial flop and it was widely lampooned across Tennai. Dewala also gives the failure of that film as the reason she was not given another mainstream film role until 2010 with her casting in Shriya Eats Daal
Maintstream film career
Following the disastrous Swashbucklers of the North, Dewala was looked over for further mainstream roles until Ishta Kasturi of Sensual Nova Productions saw her performance in the Dewala's self-produced pornographic film Photograph of an Erotocist. Of Dewala's film and performance Kasturi stated:
"Dewala's writing, production, direction, and acting in the film were remarkable. Never have I seen a woman so realistically and soulfully portrayed as Dewala's Amala."
Dewala was then asked to audtion for the role of Sunny Parvati in the film Shriya Eats Daal. She was chosen for the role after only an hour of deliberation by the film's director Kanan Nakndika and the film's casting director. Following the release of the film, Dewala recieved much praise for her portrayal of Sunny Parvati and was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in the 2010 Film Guild Awards. She did not win the award, but her performance in the film made her a highly sought after actress and launched her mainstream career.
Dewala has since starred in numerous Kellidesh and Musidesh Tennaiite films. Some notable films Dewala has appeared in are the romance A Purple Lotus Blooms for Kaya (2011), Aayisha with Shriya Eats Daal co-star Taapsee Bhatia (2013), the docu-drama Mistress of Code (2014), the Pillow Kisses spy thriller trilogy (2014, 2015,2016), and the comedy Did I do That?.
Dewala's transition from pornographic to mainstream cinema has been noted by many fans and critics as highly successful with her performances regularly recieving high praise.
Writer
Dewala, who says she has been a fan of many Tennaiite comic series since childhood, was tutored in comic book art and storytelling by graphic novelist Subhadra Luitel. In 2007 she began writing and illustrating a comic series titled The Last Lady of Oldari. The series, an erotic post-apocalyptic science fiction action romance series was not taken up by any of the major Tennaiite publishing houses. Dewala tried to get it published with smaller independent publishers, but none of them would take the work of an untested graphic novelist, even with the endorsement of a well-known and established artist/writer like Subhadra Luitel.
Despite frequent rejections, Dewala continued to work on the series, fine tuning her artistic style and writing in the process. In 2009, encouraged by Subhadra Luitel, Dewala decided to use the popularity and resources garnered from her porngraphic career to self-publish The Last Lady of Oldari and distribute it through her online store, Jaspati's Palace. The series proved a success and the first issue of he series sold over a million copies within the first three months of publication.
The Last Lady of Oldari finished its run in 2016 and after which Dewala followed up with the science fiction series Absconded. Absconded tells the story of an alien woman who finds herself stranded on a strange world and struggles to find a place for herself among beings who either ignore or torment her. Absconded began publication in 2017. In 2019, Dewala publishd the first issue of a new children's fantasy graphic novel series titled Tannu the Beast Tamer. The series is departure from her more mature works and features a seven year old girl named Tannu who has the ability to communicate with animals and magical beasts.
Dewala's series have been recieved with generally positive responses. Fans and professional reviewers frequently comment on her realistic, believable, and relatable characters.
Activisim
In 2004, she joined and began advocating for the End FGM activism campaign which was begun by a group of several pornographic actresses from Tennai. The goals of End FGM are to provide education about the practice of female genital mutilation and advocate for its elimination worldwide. She has continued to advocate for End FGM and has visited several nations within Tyran to that end.
In 2005, Jaspati became a spokesperson for the wildlife and environemental conservation organization Wild Spaces of the World (WSW). She has also modeled for the organization on numerous occasions. While her modeling campaigns for WSW have been viewed as successful, some were banned or sensored in some places outside of Tennai. In response to the censorship and banning of her images for WSW, Dewala laughed and stated at a press conference:
"I guess some people are just afraid of the female body and take offense to it. I do not do this for them, but for all the beautiful and amazing wild places of the world and the creatures that live there."
Personal Life
In 2009, Jaspati married fellow actress and frequent co-star, Sera Mai Khanh. The two have an adopted daughter, Cuc Sera Dewala.
