| | The Drevstran-Ludvosiya relations cover the tumultuous history and Bilateralism shared by the Second Mervoshia and the Commonwealth of Free Republics. The two eastern Belisarian states share a common land border and were both, in totality or partially, part of the larger Velikoslavian Empire. The Separatists Republics who would form the Commonwealth were the first to obtain their independence during the 19th century, but the Triple-Monarchy - the collection of Imperial Realms in personal union with the King of Lushyodorstag outside of the Empire, had been autonomous and de-facto independent for a century prior to their physical separation from Velikoslavia. |

| The Strong Man Court or Court of the Strong Men (Mtl:కెలెమె వినికి పొపొ) is the body that operates and controls professional sumo in the Divine Kingdom. Contrary to its Tsurushimese counterpart, salaries of the Rikishi, Helpers, and various other personnels aren't under the Court's payroll (with the sole exception of the referees). Instead, salaries are left to the discretion of each individual stable, generally to be negociated before the signature of a contract. The Court, however, has jurisdiction over conflicts that could appear concerning solely Heya (sumo), be it about the salaries, the contracts, mismanagement of the establishment, tensions between wrestlers, and so on. It is also its responsability to organize the "Nine Divine Tournaments" of the Mutul and international competitions or showmatches with other Sumo organizations. The organisation is run entirely by the Elders of the 87 constituent stables. The organization has its headquarters in the northern wing of the Hunpik K'o K'uhnah, the Thousand Masks Temple, in K'alak Muul. The Temple is also the main center of formation of God Impersonators and other traditional entertainers of the Divine Kingdom.
| | Nonetheless, the relations between the Separatists and the Triple-Monarchy were anything but cordial: the persecution of all religion by the Republicans soured relations with the Monarchist and conservative society of Drevstran. The Ludvo-Drevstraneses Wars represent part of the wider Wars of Ludvosiya that opposed the new Confederation and all of its neighbors at one point or another. Relations between the two entities during those wars were complicated as Drevstran alternated between direct opposition to the Confederation and covert support, trying to maintain a wide buffer against other perceived threats such as Velikoslavia or Mesogeia. |
|
| |
|
| ==History==
| | Relations normalized in the second half of the 19th century as the last territories occupied by Drevstran were ceded back to Ludvosiya. Previously hidden relations became public knowledge as economic relations grew between the Triple-Monarchy and the Republics. The Drevstranese and Ludvosiyan Civil Wars reshuffled the cards as factions in one conflict had privileged allies in the other warring country. Vilvo Orbraggar notably received the support of the Ludvosiyans Pan-Nationalists and Orbraggar returned the favor after his victory by directly intervening militarily on their side in Arazija. |
| The Mutuleses first came into contact with Sumo after they established the Mutulese Legation in Tsurushima. At the time professional sumo groups existed as entertainers for the Tsurushimese Upper class. The rules of the sport were already quite similar to their modern form, but tournaments didn't have champions, the score of the rikishi weren't tracked, and their promotion depended more on their popularity than their performances. Rikishi quickly became part of the distractions that could be offered in the Legation as simple show matches were organized within the district. | |
|
| |
|
| In 1608, a Mutulese trader convinced two Rikishi to follow him back to the Mutul. There, they held show matches and public display of the sport in Yu before moving across to K'alak Muul where they performed a match for the K'uhul Ajaw and his court.
| | As a result under the First Mervoshia, the two countries shared cordial relations. But the situation rapidly soured in the aftermath of the Black Streets Days: the overthrowing of Vernesto Skolad, the creation of the Second Mervoshia, and the decision by Marveil Urshlo, Fourth Mervoret of Drevstran, to seek a political and economic alignment on the Latium instead of its northern neighbor, all participated in the relative chilling of Ludvo-Drevstraneses ties with the exception of specific states such as Arazija which kept excellent relations with Drevstran throughout. |
| | |
| In 1623, three veteran rikishi and their retainers were convinced to move to the Divine Kingdom to establish their own Heya (sumo). They received recognition as Mayan priesthood and their establishments were officially recorded as Temples, as were other martial arts training facilities in the Mutul. The first real sumo tournament of the Mutul was held the next year in Yu between all three champions. The next tournament would be held in K'alak Muul 5 years later, and involved all of the Masters and their disciples, now fully trained.
| |
| | |
| Sumo would continue to slowly develop until the period of intense change that was the Itzamnaaj Reformation. Multiple structures began to appear with the aim to structure the sumo scene. By the 1880s, these had coalesced into two competing Courts: one based in Yu, the other in K'alak Muul. They would remain separated until the Tsurushimeses sumo elders created their own, nationwide association in the wake of the Daitoa Revolution. Inspired to create a true national body capable of handling the management of larger competitions and capable of representing the Divine Kingdom at the international, the Mutuleses elders of both courts spent decades in negociations that ultimately led to the successful merging of both organizations into the modern Pop in 1941.

| ===Fighters===
| |
| Sumo is a sport reserved to men in the Mutul. Kelem Winikob, direct translation of the Tsurushimese "力士", "Strong Man", are not divided by weight categories but by their ranking which track their scores in the annual Nine Divine Tournaments and other regional competitions. A Kelem Winik can participate in official competitions from 14 to 50 years old, after what he is forced to retire.
| |
| | |
| Like in Tsurushima and Enyama, all wrestlers take a wrestling name but they do not follow the same rules. The names recorded by the Strong Man Court are in Mayan script, not in Kanji and it is considered acceptable to pronounce or translate the Glyph directly into any other language, although Mutli or Japanese language are preferred.
| |
| | |
| ===Stables===
| |
| All professional wrestlers have to be part of a "Stable". In the Mutul, these are known as Temples (ఖున, K'uhnah) and there are officially 87 of them as of 2020. A Kelem Winik, live and train within his Temple. Sumo Temples in the Mutul have more responsabilities than their Tsurushimeses counterparts : they're managing the salary of their fighters at their own discretion, advertise for their competitions, organize ticket sales, and so on. Most Temples have their own network of scouts who keep a look out for any powerful or athletic young men and follow the results of local sumo competitions. Temples may also organize their own "selection tournaments" and other events to promote their sport and recruit new fighters.
| |
| | |
| Another Mutulese specificity is that a fighter is not expected to live and die by his Temple. A transfer system exist, an temples can buy, sell, or re-negociate fighters' contracts. The nickname of "School Temple" is often given when a non-negligible portion of a Temple' regular income come from the sell of fighters it has scouted and trained. Fighters belonging to the same temple never fight each other in a main tournament.

| ===Divisions and Ranks===
| |
| The Strong Man Court keep track of the score of all fighters participating in their Tournaments. It's the basis of a nationwide ranking system, called the Three Worlds and Nine Ranks. The three world are the Heavenly (Chan), Chtonic (Metnal), and Earthly (Kab) Divisions. Fighters may only face each others if they belong to the same division. Each division is then further divided into three ranks :
| |
| * Heavenly Division
| |
| ** Malil K'oh (Inner Idol)
| |
| ** Pasil K'oh (Gate Idol)
| |
| ** Lok'el K'oh (Emerged Idol)
| |
| * Chtonic Division
| |
| ** Sub'al K'oh (Submerged Idol)
| |
| ** Aj Potz' (Blind)
| |
| ** Aj Mal (Traveller)
| |
| *Earthly Division
| |
| ** Wa Tan Chen (Standing in front of the Cave)
| |
| ** Sihom (Winter maize)
| |
| ** An (Young ear of maize)
| |
| | |
| Only Heavenly and Chtonic ranks fight during tournaments. Earthly
