The Paretian Blessed Republic (República Abençoada Paretiana), sometimes called the Paretian First Republic, was a theocratic directoral republic located in Paretia, mostly located in what is Esmeira and Tosutonia. It was formed by occupying forces of the Etrurian First Republic in western Paretia, working alongside Paretian theo-republicans who supported the Etrurian cause. It is often considered a puppet state of the Etrurian First Republic, and did not succeed in ruling all of Paretia.
In 1790 the Etrurian First Republic launched it's Liberation Crusade into Esmeira, crossing the Paretian Aventines and occupying much of the western reaches of the country swiftly. The Etrurians knew of the growing Pronuncist movement and stirring of revolution in Paretian at the time, and asked for these movements to defect and join them in forming a ecumenical republic. Most of the Pronuncists rejected this, their ideology was vastly anti-clerical and more aiken to the Weranian Republic, they instead used their revolutionary militias to fight against the Etrurian occupation alongside the Paretian regular army. Some revolutionaries who aligned more with the ruling Pantheonisti in Etruria would decide to join them, including Inigo Vergara, a military officer and revolutionary, in 1893 they created the official constitution of the republic. Vergara was made First Citizen of Paretia, and the Chairman of the Ecumenical Council was Bishop Gregori Palomar. The legislature was the Republican Court of Paretia. It took most of it's inspiration from the Etrurian government.
Throughout the first years of the Blessed Republic it expanded across western Paretia as the Etrurian armies pushed further. It's capitol was moved to Ocerto, but Vergara announced the goal of the nation is to "rule all of Paretia, with the help of our friends of Etruria we will overthrow the tyranny of the Paretian monarchy, the Lord is with us. Remember Paretians that we bow to no King, only God." Still, even with the distain for the monarchy, the government of the Blessed Republic was widely unpopular and only seen as an extension of Etrurian rule over Paretia, revolts in the occupied areas were beginning to grow.
By the 1800s the war in Paretia was becoming a stalemate, and the Weranian Republic had fallen, putting the pressure of the Euclean powers onto Etruria and it's allies. The Etrurians and pro-Blessed Republic forces were crushingly defeated at the Battle of Sargeive and began to be pushed back. By 1808 the government in Ocerto surrendered to Paretian forces and the control of occupied territories returned to Etruria until the fall of the Etrurian First Republic.
