The 1996-1997 Kaoroan Civil war was an armed conflict nationwide in Kaoro from June 14, 1996, until the Fall of Kaoro City on November 27, 1997. It was between the People's Federal Socialist States of Kaoro and several rebel groups, the main being the Kaoroan Defense Forces, which represented the Kaoro Provisional Government. With the brutal crackdown against the Kaoroan Spring, thousands of protesters fled to the countryside with deserters of the Kaoroan army, where they were given military training. During the war, tens of thousands of soldiers fled the Kaoroan Army, many to join the KDF. The high amount of deserters led to the complete collapse of the Kaoroan Army. With many Socialist leaders seeing the grave situation, many government leaders fled the country, leaving the capital of Kaoro City exposed, which led to its fall on November 27, 1997.
