Yaouko, officially the Federal Democratic Republic of Yaouko is a country in West-central Africa. Its culture is highly diversified due to the presence of many tribes and different mix of races, languages and religions, all of them co-existing peacefully over the last few decades. For a long time, it was considered one of the most important ports in Africa. It's capital and largest city is Meidou.

History

In the Pre-history it is believed that many tribes inhabited what is Yaouko nowadays approximately 6 million years ago according to what was found by historians. Both fossil and human remains were found in the jungle a couple of decades ago which were analyzed and found that those remains belonged to a fossilized woman.

Previous to European conquest, Muslim tribes inhabited most of the territory and formed a caliphate under Akbar Youssane al-Dawalan leadership, who had a formidable relation with Animist neighbour tribes.

In 1774, a massive group of German sailors landed on the capital's port and began a 'lightning invasion' of Yaouko's territory. Many of the tribes were completely exterminated and their properties taken out by the new authorities.

The colonialists started a campaign of alphabetization and assimilation against the natives.

Climate

Most of Yaouko's territory is under the tropical monsoon climate, with no variability between temperatures year round and no difference between a dry and wet season. According to many meteorologists worldwide, Yaouko is both one of the hottest and wettest places in the world. The hottest months of the year are February, September and October, with highs exceeding 41 °C (106 °F) daily with temporary temperature drops due to the rains. The coolest month is May with an average of 33.4 °C (92.1 °F). As mentioned before, the rainfall is evenly distributed all over the year, with no wet or dry season. With an average of 733.9 millimetres (28.89 in) and 27.1 days of rain, January is the wettest month of the year. On the other hand, the driest month is May, with 178.4 millimetres (7.02 in) of rain in 11.9 days of rain.
