Founded under the National Defence Act of 1945, it traces its roots and traditions to the ''Maharlika'' troops of the Panganiban Faction during the [[Lusoñan Civil War]]. The AFLR has played an integral part of the country's history. The AFLR has been involved in various conflicts, such as combatting and eventually defeating the rebellion in the Region of Magsaysay, and operations against Iyeta insurgents in the mountainous regions of Pantabangan. At present, military service is entirely voluntary.

== Modernization and Reform ==
Following the fall of the second Bolante regime and the country's transition to the Third Republic, the Republic Act 8435 or the AFLR Reform and Modernization Act was enacted by ''Lakan'' Lucero Auza's administration in 2014. The passage of the act signified the country's intent to make the AFLR a credible player in any regional or international security arrangements. Since the passage, the AFLR has made the modernization act at the core of initiatives to improve the military capabilities. Shifting regional security arrangements meant that the AFLR had to expand and enhance its abilities to respond to a wide spectrum of possible security challenges. Domestically, modernization would instill in the people increased pride with the armed forces and denies prospective putschists the issue of poor equipage to rationalize their attempts to grab power.
The objectives of the AFLR Reform and Modernization Act are:
* To develop the AFLR’s capability to uphold the sovereignty of and territorial integrity of the Republic and to secure the national territory from all forms of intrusion and encroachment;
* To develop the AFLR’s capability to assist civilian agencies in the preservation of the national patrimony, including the country’s living and non-living marine, submarine, mineral, forest and other natural resources located within its territory and its Exclusive Economic Zone;
* To enhance the AFLR’s capability to fulfill its mandate to protect the Lusoñan people not only from armed threats but the ill effects of life-threatening and destructive consequences of natural and man-made disasters and calamities, including typhoons, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, major accidents in far-flung or inaccessible terrain or at sea from all forms of ecological damage;
* To improve the AFLR’s capability to assist other agencies in the enforcement of domestic and foreign policies as well as international covenants against piracy, slavery, smuggling, drug trafficking, hijacking of aircraft and sea craft and the transport of toxic and other ecologically-harmful substance taking place in or through Lusoñan territory;
* To enhance the AFLR’s capability to assist the Lusoñan National Police in law enforcement and internal security operations;
* To enhance the AFLR’s capability to fulfill the country’s international commitments; and
* To develop the AFLR’s capability to support national development.
The AFLR plans to transition its strategic actions from internal defense to territorial defense. It prioritizes the multi-role naval and air assets to support combat troops; and, to protect and preserve the territorial waters and the air space against intrusion.

=== Commissioned Officer ===
The 2014 revision of the National Constitution placed the AFLR under the control of a civilian administration, headed by the [[Lakan of the Lusoñan Republic]], who act as its Commander-in-Chief. All of its branches are part of the Department of National Defence, which is headed by the Secretary of National Defence.
{| class="wikitable" style="align: center;"

These major services are unified under the Chief of the Armed Forces of the Lusoñan Republic who holds the rank of General/Admiral. The Chief of Staff is assisted by the Vice Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Lusoñan Republic who holds the rank of the Lieutenant General/Vice Admiral. The highest posts of the AFLR are also assisted by the Secretary Joint Staff (SJSAFLR), who serves as the primary executive officer for the AFLR Chief of Staff, and the Vice Chief of Staff.

Each of the four branches are headed by an officer with the following titles:
* Commanding General of the Lusoñan Republic Army (CGLRA) - Lieutenant General
* Flag Officer-in-Command of the Lusoñan Republic Navy (FOCLRN) - Vice Admiral
* Commanding General of the Lusoñan Republic Air Forces (CGLRAF) - Lieutenant General
* Commandant of the Lusoñan Republic Marine Corps (CMLRMC) - Major General

The Armed Forces of the Lusoñan Republic (Ahlranese: ᜐᜈ᜔ᜇᜆᜑᜅ᜔ ᜎᜃᜐ᜔ ᜅ᜔ ᜍᜒ︀ᜉᜓᜊ᜔ᜎᜒᜃ ᜅ᜔ ᜎᜓᜐᜓ︀ᜈ᜔ᜌ, latinized as: Sandatahang Lakas ng Republika ng Lusoña) are the military forces of the Lusoñan Republic. It consists of three main branches; the Army, the Air Force, and the Navy (which includes the Marine Corps). The Lakan of the Lusoñan Republic is the Commander-in-Chief of the AFLR and forms military policy with the Department of National Defense, an executive department acting as the principal organ by which military policy is carried out, while the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Lusoñan Republic serves as the overall commander and the highest-ranking officer in the AFLR.

Founded under the National Defence Act of 1945, it traces its roots and traditions to the Maharlika troops of the Panganiban Faction during the Lusoñan Civil War.

Modernization and Reform

Following the fall of the second Bolante regime and the country's transition to the Third Republic, the Republic Act 8435 or the AFLR Reform and Modernization Act was enacted by Lakan Lucero Auza's administration in 2014.

  • To develop the AFLR’s capability to uphold the sovereignty of and territorial integrity of the Republic and to secure the national territory from all forms of intrusion and encroachment;
  • To develop the AFLR’s capability to assist civilian agencies in the preservation of the national patrimony, including the country’s living and non-living marine, submarine, mineral, forest and other natural resources located within its territory and its Exclusive Economic Zone;
  • To enhance the AFLR’s capability to fulfill its mandate to protect the Lusoñan people not only from armed threats but the ill effects of life-threatening and destructive consequences of natural and man-made disasters and calamities, including typhoons, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, major accidents in far-flung or inaccessible terrain or at sea from all forms of ecological damage;
  • To improve the AFLR’s capability to assist other agencies in the enforcement of domestic and foreign policies as well as international covenants against piracy, slavery, smuggling, drug trafficking, hijacking of aircraft and sea craft and the transport of toxic and other ecologically-harmful substance taking place in or through Lusoñan territory;
  • To enhance the AFLR’s capability to assist the Lusoñan National Police in law enforcement and internal security operations;
  • To enhance the AFLR’s capability to fulfill the country’s international commitments; and
  • To develop the AFLR’s capability to support national development.

The AFLR plans to transition its strategic actions from internal defense to territorial defense. It prioritizes the multi-role naval and air assets to support combat troops; and, to protect and preserve the territorial waters and the air space against intrusion.

The 2014 revision of the National Constitution placed the AFLR under the control of a civilian administration, headed by the Lakan of the Lusoñan Republic, who act as its Commander-in-Chief. All of its branches are part of the Department of National Defence, which is headed by the Secretary of National Defence.

  • Commanding General of the Lusoñan Republic Army (CGLRA) - Lieutenant General
  • Flag Officer-in-Command of the Lusoñan Republic Navy (FOCLRN) - Vice Admiral
  • Commanding General of the Lusoñan Republic Air Forces (CGLRAF) - Lieutenant General
