The Hammadid Dynasty was a dynasty which reigned in Salamat from 1775 until independence in 1969.

Originating from the Hammadi tribe in Dar Al Hamma, the first ruler, Mohammed Al-Hammadi I, seized power on October 23 1785, after a power struggle in the region.

After the end of the Salamati Independence War, the heirs derived in two branchs : The Talib branch, which descends from Talib Al-Hammadi, and the Mohammed branch, which comes from Mohammed Al-Hammadi IV. The Salamati royalists consider the Talib branch as illegitimate, while Jalil Al Kharrabi prefered them, as they were the descendants of a revolutionary figure which fought against colonialism.
