After the decriminalisation of homosexuality in Charville in 1973, Midsummer's Day was chosen as the date of the first Ekonsas Pride March (now the largest pride parade in Charville) the following year. The holiday is now deeply associated with the LGBT rights movement in Charville. As part of his "Imotkomm" policies, President Agnar Haagensen moved the holiday to the first Monday of June in 1979—this quickly fell out of favour with the public, and was reversed back to its traditional and current date in 1990. | ||
