Ekenas, officially Ekenas County, or sometimes called the Commonwealth of Ekenas, is a county along the Ural river in the Obets United Republic. Ekenas borders Alatnamaa to the north, Tavastia to the south, Lansi-Uralia to the southeast, and Verskoo to the east. The county is the 7th most populated and 10th largest by area in the Union, making it have an above-average population density. The capital, and largest city, Rovaniemi, is the oldest city in Obets and features a historic downtown area with many museums dedicated to its namesake, Filip of Rovaniemi. While hal fof Ekenasana live in Rovaniemi, the other half live in its vast swaths of boreal forests that slowly climb up to the alpine regions of neighboring Alatnamaa. The Sekuepuemik, Anishinapue, and Anishimoni nations all have tribes in western and northern Ekenas. The Anishinapue Cultural Center is located in the town of Tampere, which is the seat of the Anishinapue Nation.
