'''Quincy''' (/ˈkwɪnzi/''KWIN-zee''), officially the '''United States of Quincy''' ''({{wpl|French language|French}}: Les États-Unis de Quincey),'' is a nation comprised of 5 states in New England. It is bordered to the north and northeast by {{wpl|Canada|the Commonwealth of Canada}} and to the south and southwest by {{wpl|Connecticut|Connecticut}} and the Haudenosaunee Confederation.
'''Quincy''' (/ˈkwˈɪnsi/''KWIN-zee''), officially the '''United Kingdom of Quincy''' ''({{wpl|Portuguese language|Portuguese}}: Reino Unido de Quincia)'' is a nation located in the Gulf of Mexico. It is bordered on all sides by the Gulf of Mexico, though sharing a maritime border with both Mexico and the United States. Quincy comprises 8 states and one capital region, known as the Federal Region, or '''Região Federal''', and has a population of 1.7 million. Quincy is also a part of the Organization of American States and the United Nations.

= Etymology =
= Etymology =
It is unknown exactly where the name Quincy originated, but the most commonly and historically accepted origin is that it comes from the former French North American colony of Quincey, an archaic form of the word. The area applied to the word, however, has shifted much more southwards than it originally was intended, as it once meant the area around Montreal and Quebec City, whereas post-Revolutionary War it was applied to Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Rhodes. The word fell out of use from 1763-1785, but it picked up relevance again that year and was adopted as the name of the now world-renowned United States of Quincy.
UNDERGOING EXTREME REVISIONS TO FIT NEW LORE

== Theories Around Its Original Meaning ==
Quincy as a name originates in the Latin term "Quintus", or Fifth-Born. The connection to this meaning is rather hotly debated among Quincois etymologists, but no concrete or overall opinion exists as to how the connection could play into any majorly significant meaning. Despite this, some persist with theories, a few of which, delve into more conspiratorial elements.

=== Conspiracies ===
There are two very well known conspiracies that have circulated around the origin of the name of Quincy, one being that the name originates from a Viking name, ''"Fimmtibarn"'', or Fifth-born, a literal translation of the name of Quincy from Latin. This suggestion has, however, received no genuine trend since the mid-1800s, as it lacks virtually any holding in historical truth.

The second theory, however, has a much higher number of proponents. The theory goes that, during the Crusades, Emperor Henry VI (April 14 1191-September 28 1197) of the Holy Roman Empire, in a conversation with his advisors, spoke the words ''"Vunf naht, vunf naht har din geben tau werdan."'' ("Five nights, five nights you have to [be] born."), of which many attribute the portmanteau '''Vunfwerdan''' as an incredibly early form of the word Quincy. However, in recent years, fact checks and genuine delves into historical records of Henry VI have turned up nothing of this quote ever having been attributed to him.

== Foundations ==
==Early History==
For thousands of years before the existence of Quincy, several native groups inhabited the region. Notably out of all of these, the Erie Natives, which would later evolve into their current form of the Haudenosaunee, of which were by the French referred to as the Iroquois. In the mid-1600s, with the foundation of New France, the original colony of Quincy was established as Quincey in the region around and south of the Saint Lawrence River. From 1607 onwards to 1754, the colony remained firmly in French hands, serving as a valuable asset to the fur trade.
Prior to colonization in 1521, Quincy was entirely uninhabited. While some groups had established temporary settlement, no larger entity had properly settled down on the Ilhasul or Ilhanorte. In 1521, Portuguese explorers, unknowingly breaking the Treaty of Tordesillas, would set up a colony around the modern city of CF Colômbia, at the time calling it Colômbia for the namesake of Christopher Columbus. By 1530, the name "Quincia" was being applied to the entire colony, granting it the name it has today.

Early colonization efforts most primarily focused around the Ilhanorte, with Portuguese efforts to expand in the Ilhasul being much more limited. The Ilhasul only saw one settlement founded, Araújo, which at the time was little more than a tiny outpost on the fringes of the massive jungles of the Ilhasul. However, after years of slow expansion, the colony began to show signs of success, with the local economy being bolstered and slowly growing as time went on.
By 1754, Quincy was a very well established Imperial French colony, but this would prove to not last, as in 1763 following the events of the Seven Years' War, the colony of Quincey ceased to exist and was replaced by Upper and Lower Canada. From 1763 to 1785, the name was retired to the pages of history, but as the future would prove, the dissolution of the United States opened the gateway to a reborn Quincy.
By the mid-1600s, Quincy was considered an equal partner to Portugal and Brazil, which led to the formation of the United Kingdoms of Portugal, the Algarves, Brazil, and Quincia in 1640, which would last from 1640 to 1810, at which point Brazil broke off.

In 1785, the idea of an independent Quincy began to take off once again, as the southern American states began to prepare to declare independence in response to the new proposed Constitution. In 1786, after the departure of the southern states, on July 2nd, the states of New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island all along with the rest of the remaining states dissolved the United States of America, with the five joining together into the new Allied States of Quincy.

== Jacques Xavier and the 19th Century ==
Immediately after its establishment, Quincy was faced with multiple issues, most notably the Haudenosaunee people group, which held many lands throughout New York. So, to put the issue permanently to rest, a referendum in the state was held over the impasse, and by a slim margin of 51%, the state was split in half between Quincy and the Haudenosaunee people, who joined with Pennsylvania and Delaware to form the Haudenosaunee Confederation. With one issue solved, Quincy turned to the other; the issue of Northern Massachusetts.

From 1789 to 1795, the British territories of Canada and Quincy argued over the issue of Northern Massachusetts, until finally in 1795, President Jacques Xavier of Quincy came up with a compromise that would give Northern Massachusetts to British Canada, while promising that Quincy would retain an eternal friendship with whatever form of British North America existed. This agreement, signed into law 238 years ago, is the single longest lasting foreign agreement in Quincois history. After solving the main issues facing Quincy, the country settled into its first true era of peace, known to the Quincois history books as the Quinque-Publica Pax, or the Five-State Peace. This period lasted from 1796 to 1860, where upon the outbreak of the Continental War was ended.

=== Continental War===
In 1860, the New United States of America, formed in 1801, declared war on all of North America, including British Canada. At this point, nobody truly expected the New United States to win, but by 1864 this had radically changed, as only with the full joining of the British and French Empires into the war ended their massive push which had pushed up into Northern California and the Haudenosaunee Confederation and into mild skirmishes along the Quincois border. In the peace treaty that followed in 1865 at Appomattox Courthouse, following a complete collapse of the N.U.S.A. forces at the combined Anglo-Franco-American forces, the entire New United States was dissolved, and put under military rule by Britain and France until the areas were deemed stable enough to become independent once again. This also included the outlawing of slavery in the newly re-established nations, much to the protest of the N.U.S.A. military and political leaders.

== Quintus Postbellum ==
==Lead-Up To And After Independence up to 1910==
Afterwards, from 1865 to 1916, the Quintus Postbellum era began, or the Quincois Post-War era. This era was marked by Quincy's pursuing of massive technological advances, achieving machine guns in 1898. However, much of this technology was incredibly classified, but leaked only to Britain and Canada for purposes of allied benefit. In 1916, North America once again went into war, with the southern nations siding with the Central Powers and much of the rest of the continent with the Entente. With the defeat of Germany in 1918 and the restoration of the Russian Empire upon Nicholas' restoration to the throne in 1920 after surviving his family's assassination, the Second Quintus Postbellum era began, lasting from 1919 to 1940. This era saw a massive growth of the Quincois economy from 1919 to 1931, upon which began the Jacques Street Crash, which crumbled the entire Quincois economy, dragging down the British and Haudenosaunee nations with them, before bringing the entire world down as well. The era from 1932 to 1940 was a depressing time for Quincy as a whole, with lines of people simply wanting food going for kilometres on end. However, all this would change in 1940 with the single worst event in the history of Quincy, which dragged the country into World War II.
In 1810, after Brazil withdrew from the UKPABQ, it was left as the United Kingdoms of Portugal, the Algarves, and Quincia (UKPAQ), but this union would be short lived. Spurred somewhat by the declaration of independence in the United States a few decades prior, Quincy declared its independence in 1820 under Portuguese supervision on May 7. Interestingly, the country opted to keep the monarchy intact, and it remained as the head of state of the new United Kingdom of Quincy.

== World War II ==
After gaining independence, Quincy was left as a small, mostly unpopulated nation. As such, the House of Bragança did not largely pay attention to the small kingdom. Nonetheless, the United Kingdom of Quincy kept moving forward, continuing to establish itself. Under the Liberal Party leadership of Prime Minister Morellus Sãoci (1820-1828), Quincy began to slowly build up a domestic industry around mining and manufacturing, both of which bolstered the Ilhanorte in particular, with significant efforts being made to try and extend the effects to the Ilhasul, but it would take some time for this to occur. Under successive Liberal Party Prime Ministers Roberto Norte (1828-1836) and Duvalier Gautierri (1836-1844), Quincy's economy began to grow further, until finally around 1840 it began to show fruit with the first railways between CF Colômbia and Magalhães, bolstering the local regions in particular, especially around the Magalhães-Gusmão-Colômbia tri-state area.
On August 17th, 1940, at 09:30 Eastern Standard Time, five German Abwehr men, carrying three bombs, entered into the Albany Capitol Building, and detonated the bombs, killing themselves in the process. 85 other casualties occurred, with 17 dead in the immediate blast and others badly injured or wounded. It was the single deadliest day in Quincois history outside of the border skirmishes of the Continental War and North American Front of the First World War.

Thirty minutes after receiving the news, the Quincois Congress declared a state of war between the Allied States of Quincy and the German Reich. In a speech, then-President Langley Eustace said what is considered to be one of the most gravitating speeches in the entire history of Quincy.
By the turn of the century in 1900, Quincy had experienced four parties coming and going in power, each leaving massive influences on the country at large, with some of the largest impacts being the first revision to the Code of Laws in 1880, followed by a second version in 1900. Under the leadership of Orgullo Brusul (1892-1900), Quincy had entered a period of relative stability, turning into one of the most stable countries in the world. This would, however, change in 1910, when the Lusitanian House of Bragança was forced to flee to Quincy, which led to the rise of Antonio Mãoço.

''"Citizens, and all people of Quincy, I speak to you here today to tell you of a terrible, terrible action that has taken place in the great capital city of the State of Albany. Thirty minutes ago, the Albany State Capitol was infiltrated by five German Abwehr units, who subsequently carried three bombs into the building and detonated them. 17 people were killed, and several dozen more injured gravely. This is an intolerable action that I, nor the Allied States; shall permit. Therefore; a state of war henceforth exists between Quincy, and Germany."''
== Antonio Mãoço and the Emergency Provisional Government (GPE) ==
Antonio Mãoço had been a relatively well-recognized figure in Quincy from 1900 onwards. In 1910, following the {{wpl|5 October 1910 revolution|Republican Revolution}} in Portugal, the House of Bragança was forced to flee to the last nation with a Portuguese monarch as its head: Quincy. The monarchy thus settled down in CF Côlombia, making it their permanent residence.

Once again, similar to World War One, the frontlines more or less remained the same, with the southern nations once again being defeated. However, fueled by rage against the August 17th Attacks, the Quincois Armed Forces participated in the Operation Overlord invasion of Normandy, landing on Omaha beach with some Canadian divisions as well. In 1945, following Quincy's landmark liberation of Amsterdam, and the surrender of the Axis and Germany, Quincy demanded an occupation zone of the country, of which was split along with Austria into four occupied zones; one for the French, one for the British, one for the Quincois, and one for the Imperial Russian.
During this time, Quincy had held its 1910 election, with an overwhelming 87% majority voting for Antonio Mãoço, but this unknowingly would destroy Quincois democracy for decades. Under Mãoço's rule, Quincy descended under the rule of the Emergency Provisional Government ''(Portuguese: Governo Provisório de Emergência)'', which began to restrict civil rights, stop elections, and centralize power in Mãoço's hands. Mãoço would rule from 1910 to 1936, although his dictatorial rule only began truly in 1914, after the elections in that year gave him justification enough to take full power.

=== Global Entente ===
During Mãoço's leadership, however, Quincy did grow in terms of population, industry, infrastructure, culture, and many other fields. Mãoço promoted the idea of "Quincois Nationalism," of which emphasized that Quincois should focus inwards, directing their attention to the betterment of the nation as a whole. As such, under Mãoço, railways were build connecting every major city, and the first highways were constructed, including the Constança-FC Colômbia highway, the first undersea car highway in 1929 after eight years of work. In addition, Mãoço bolstered the infrastructure of the Ilhasul, becoming one of the first PMs to actually dedicate effort to building up the region.
Following the war's end, drafts for a global alliance were drafted, which would succeed the former League of Nations, and would be called the Global Entente. Immediately upon the proposal, the French suggested an article be added prohibiting a state of war between any member state, so as to keep humanity from destroying itself any further. The British, Russian, and Quincois delegations had their hesitation to this, but overall agreed. The British and French, however, would come to regret this in years afterwards as their colonies began to declare independence.

With the Global Entente, two parts were established; them being the General Assembly and the Security Council, of which consisted of the Allied States of Quincy, the Russian Empire, United Kingdom, French Republic, and Republic of China. After its establishment, the Global Entente also was given the ability to deter war via nuclear threat, as to keep the world in check. Following the end of the Chinese Civil War in a nationalist victory in 1950, the world entered into the Pax Mundi, or World Peace. This period would begin in 1950, and continue to modern day.
In 1931, Quincy offered asylum to the House of Bourbon fleeing from Spain, and in turn the House of Bragança and the House of Bourbon intermarried and merged into the House of Bragança-Bourbon, forming Quincy's current royal family. While a controversial move at the time, the family became one of the most well-liked after Mãoço's death in 1936.

== Cold War ==
In 1936, just five years after taking in the Bourbon dynasty, Antonio Oliveira Sanchez Mãoço died at 76. In the aftermath of his death, Franco Pierre was elected Prime Minister, and under his leadership, he would dissolve the GPE and restore democracy to Quincy.

== Recovery from the Mãoço Dictatorship (1936-1944) ==
Following Mãoço's death in 1936 and Pierre's assumption of power, many feared a return to Mãoçoi principles, especially considering Pierre aligned with the Liberals, the same party that Mãoço himself was a part of decades prior. However, to the relief of the Quincois people, Pierre decried Mãoçoi principles, advocating for a full democratization and recovery to stability.

As time went on, and more and more military spending continued to crush the Imperial Russian economy, in 1990, the Russian Empire on paper dissolved, with the Baltic States, western Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Armenia, a majority of Sakartvelo (Georgia), and much of Central Asia breaking away from the collapsing Empire, with the Cold War officially ending on December 25th, 1990.
From 1936 to 1940, Pierre took the time to fully rebuild Quincy's democratic government, restoring Parliament to its full power, redistributing governmental authority to the states, and de-Mãoçoifying the country. The era between 1936 and 1944 is, because of this, referred to in Quincy as "De-Mãoçoization," In 1940, Pierre would be elected to a second term in office, ensuring that his reforms would not be impeded. After his re-election, Pierre continued to restore faith in the Quincois government, granting significant authority to the local and state governments of Quincy, while also emphasizing that the royal government in FC Colômbia held the final say on issues of national importance, but the states would be allowed to "choose their own battles." By the time he had left office in 1944, Pierre had successfully managed to redirect Quincy away from Mãoço's ideologies, coinciding with a rebirth in Quincois democracy.

== The Robiérto Dynasty (1944-1984) ==
For Quincy, the years following World War II were of massive social, technological, and economic progress, with many advances made in all categories. By the 1980s, Quincy had begun progress on modern computers, and was debating legislation that would allow same-sex marriage and ban conversion therapy. This law passed with a 85% approval rating, and Quincy would continue to advance its progressiveness towards all aspects of life, until in 2030, seeing the dangers of climate change, developed a process known as "Genetic Restructuring", which would take atoms from existing nonrenewables, foods, and beverages, and clone them. This immediately gave Quincy an incredulous amount of oil that they could manipulate to be environmentally friendly, which led to in 2032 Quincy being alongside the Kingdom of Bhutan classified as carbon-negative.
From 1944 to 1984, the Robiérto family under the Reform Party would...

Quincy is a country with many natural barriers, including its several mountain chains. Flanked by the Appalachian, White, Adirondacks, Green, and Berkshire Mountain chains, Quincy is virtually completely protected from most threats. Containing much of the Connecticut and Hudson Rivers, this has facilitated much trade with external neighbours and allowed Quincy to grow into a large importer and exporter. The tallest point in Quincy is Mount Washington, sitting at 6,288.2 feet, with its lowest point at sea level.

The climate of Quincy can be described by many as mild, cold, and even hot at times. While all these are true, they vary from region to region. For much of the year, Quincy is covered in cold weather, only letting up from June to August, before going cold again. In the colder months, specifically October to February, is when it becomes the coldest. With the colder climate, Quincy often year round keeps jackets and cold attire readily on display, but at times this has been challenged with changing world climates. As an extra piece of knowledge, in 1885, the coldest temperature in Quincois history was recorded on December 26th, at a record breaking -13°F.

The environment of Quincy is a unique place, in that the area is almost in totality covered by snow and cold weather. However, this has not stopped local life from thriving. Quincy's national animal, the North American Brown Bear [Often shortened to just "Bear" by the Quincois], is quite a frequent sight, alongside many other animals such as caribou (infrequently), snakes, and many, many others.

History

Early History

By the mid-1600s, Quincy was considered an equal partner to Portugal and Brazil, which led to the formation of the United Kingdoms of Portugal, the Algarves, Brazil, and Quincia in 1640, which would last from 1640 to 1810, at which point Brazil broke off.

Lead-Up To And After Independence up to 1910

In 1810, after Brazil withdrew from the UKPABQ, it was left as the United Kingdoms of Portugal, the Algarves, and Quincia (UKPAQ), but this union would be short lived. Spurred somewhat by the declaration of independence in the United States a few decades prior, Quincy declared its independence in 1820 under Portuguese supervision on May 7. Interestingly, the country opted to keep the monarchy intact, and it remained as the head of state of the new United Kingdom of Quincy.

Antonio Mãoço and the Emergency Provisional Government (GPE)

Antonio Mãoço had been a relatively well-recognized figure in Quincy from 1900 onwards. In 1910, following the Republican Revolution in Portugal, the House of Bragança was forced to flee to the last nation with a Portuguese monarch as its head: Quincy. The monarchy thus settled down in CF Côlombia, making it their permanent residence.

During this time, Quincy had held its 1910 election, with an overwhelming 87% majority voting for Antonio Mãoço, but this unknowingly would destroy Quincois democracy for decades. Under Mãoço's rule, Quincy descended under the rule of the Emergency Provisional Government (Portuguese: Governo Provisório de Emergência), which began to restrict civil rights, stop elections, and centralize power in Mãoço's hands. Mãoço would rule from 1910 to 1936, although his dictatorial rule only began truly in 1914, after the elections in that year gave him justification enough to take full power.

Recovery from the Mãoço Dictatorship (1936-1944)

Following Mãoço's death in 1936 and Pierre's assumption of power, many feared a return to Mãoçoi principles, especially considering Pierre aligned with the Liberals, the same party that Mãoço himself was a part of decades prior. However, to the relief of the Quincois people, Pierre decried Mãoçoi principles, advocating for a full democratization and recovery to stability.
