owo whats this
* Presumably has existed since at least the 18th century and its formation involved some kind of continental holding of Narrland-Liothida being incorporated.
* Presumably aristocratic-led initially, be that a noble republic or a monarchical state I don't know but certainly not a copy of Azmara's noble republic -> revolutionary Werania's playground -> "constitutional" monarchy early modern history.
* Sometime in the late 19th/early 20th centuries a revolution comes which establishes the modern republic except socialists and liberals can mostly only agree that they should make a democratic republic and now they hate each other whoops I guess they'll just have to fight over its flexible institutions forever.
* Probably like 75% Espenmarker, 15% Narro-Espenmarker, 5% Lichlander and 5% something else.
* Probably a Disitrist or whatever we use majority but the state is secular and it's 2020s pseudo-Western Europe so a lot of people don't care about religion.
* Two major cities dominate the country - inland Sievertsdarp which has a historic centre around some big uni and probably a large business district and a very large industrial base, coastal Monensbucht is a major port city which does a fuckton of shipping and is traditionally more working-class than Sievertsdarp.
* Significant rural area - largely agricultural and resents the domination of the two big cities on national politics, votes EVp and sometimes DP en masse.
* No codified constitution, a series of basic laws which can be very easily amended are the true basis of the government and how it works and so the country's institutions are theoretically quite flexible.
* Elections are under universal suffrage because of course - Rejierungshus has 60 members of which 30 are local representatives and 30 are on a list to make it proportional and overhangs are not a thing so if you win enough local races congrats you're overrepresented deal with it but there's a 5% threshold so get your single-issue parties out of here.
* The Chancellor is directly elected at the same time as the Rejierungshus and the proportional list vote might actually be a vote for that party's Chancellor candidate as well. Top two candidates will face off in a second round a week after unless someone gets over 50% which would never happen.
* The Rejierungshus and Chancellor terms last four years but the Rejierungshus can just pull the plug and no-confidence the Chancellor out of office whenever they feel like it.
* There's a Cabinet because of course there is but it probably only has like nine or ten ministers because this is literally a country of a million people how many do you need.
* There's also provisions for referenda in there and unions get a big role in doing the government but probably more the local government.
* The Labour Union keeps trying to amend one of the Basic Laws to call Espenmark socialist and either they succeeded and it's in there but the other parties ignore it when they govern without them or they keep trying to remove it and the Labour Union keeps putting it back.
* Oh yeah the Labour Union is a big tent demsoc and socdem party which has historically worked against the classical liberal (no not alt-right shysters the other kind) Freethinkers Party to win the Chancellory but in 2020 people got sick of them both and the Greens won the Chancellory by saying "we support social progress" over and over and also the other candidate was from Labour Union so a lot of the liberals just voted Green to stop him getting in.
* Other notable parties include the People's Party which is mad people don't listen to farmers, Narish Minority which is mad people don't listen to Narish people even though they're all rich and the Democratic Party which is mad people don't listen to Jesus.
* In terms of foreign policy the state is in the Hallanic Commonwealth and very close to Lichland but uh we haven't fully fleshed this out but also I don't think we need to that much?
* The only nation I will evermake whose military isn't weaker than a nun's piss is North Kabu. The military probably has less people than most small towns given the country's size.
* In terms of the economy there's probably a big welfare state but I'll make it different from Azmara's one in how it functions.
* Shipping is a big industry and while there were a fair few heavy industries its mostly service based now and presumably a lot of that is centred around the university in Sievertsdarp.
* There's probably very strong codetermination laws for companies and unions are heavily involved in economic policy and as such there's probably very high union density but also the economy is still market based and probably quite freely so.
* Education is probably all comprehensive schools and healthcare is some as yet undetermined universal system but not the Azmaran one.
* The culture will be a mix of like super Bohemian stuff with just Low German culture and also probably a very noticeable working class edge but I'll write that when it's not close to midnight but also Lilienburg's wide embrace of counterculture due to its small size and educated young population under a liberal regime was what made it so fun so expect that here too.

owo whats this

  • Presumably has existed since at least the 18th century and its formation involved some kind of continental holding of Narrland-Liothida being incorporated.
  • Presumably aristocratic-led initially, be that a noble republic or a monarchical state I don't know but certainly not a copy of Azmara's noble republic -> revolutionary Werania's playground -> "constitutional" monarchy early modern history.
  • Sometime in the late 19th/early 20th centuries a revolution comes which establishes the modern republic except socialists and liberals can mostly only agree that they should make a democratic republic and now they hate each other whoops I guess they'll just have to fight over its flexible institutions forever.
  • Probably like 75% Espenmarker, 15% Narro-Espenmarker, 5% Lichlander and 5% something else.
  • Probably a Disitrist or whatever we use majority but the state is secular and it's 2020s pseudo-Western Europe so a lot of people don't care about religion.
  • Two major cities dominate the country - inland Sievertsdarp which has a historic centre around some big uni and probably a large business district and a very large industrial base, coastal Monensbucht is a major port city which does a fuckton of shipping and is traditionally more working-class than Sievertsdarp.
  • Significant rural area - largely agricultural and resents the domination of the two big cities on national politics, votes EVp and sometimes DP en masse.
  • No codified constitution, a series of basic laws which can be very easily amended are the true basis of the government and how it works and so the country's institutions are theoretically quite flexible.
  • Elections are under universal suffrage because of course - Rejierungshus has 60 members of which 30 are local representatives and 30 are on a list to make it proportional and overhangs are not a thing so if you win enough local races congrats you're overrepresented deal with it but there's a 5% threshold so get your single-issue parties out of here.
  • The Chancellor is directly elected at the same time as the Rejierungshus and the proportional list vote might actually be a vote for that party's Chancellor candidate as well. Top two candidates will face off in a second round a week after unless someone gets over 50% which would never happen.
  • The Rejierungshus and Chancellor terms last four years but the Rejierungshus can just pull the plug and no-confidence the Chancellor out of office whenever they feel like it.
  • There's a Cabinet because of course there is but it probably only has like nine or ten ministers because this is literally a country of a million people how many do you need.
  • There's also provisions for referenda in there and unions get a big role in doing the government but probably more the local government.
  • The Labour Union keeps trying to amend one of the Basic Laws to call Espenmark socialist and either they succeeded and it's in there but the other parties ignore it when they govern without them or they keep trying to remove it and the Labour Union keeps putting it back.
  • Oh yeah the Labour Union is a big tent demsoc and socdem party which has historically worked against the classical liberal (no not alt-right shysters the other kind) Freethinkers Party to win the Chancellory but in 2020 people got sick of them both and the Greens won the Chancellory by saying "we support social progress" over and over and also the other candidate was from Labour Union so a lot of the liberals just voted Green to stop him getting in.
  • Other notable parties include the People's Party which is mad people don't listen to farmers, Narish Minority which is mad people don't listen to Narish people even though they're all rich and the Democratic Party which is mad people don't listen to Jesus.
  • In terms of foreign policy the state is in the Hallanic Commonwealth and very close to Lichland but uh we haven't fully fleshed this out but also I don't think we need to that much?
  • The only nation I will evermake whose military isn't weaker than a nun's piss is North Kabu. The military probably has less people than most small towns given the country's size.
  • In terms of the economy there's probably a big welfare state but I'll make it different from Azmara's one in how it functions.
  • Shipping is a big industry and while there were a fair few heavy industries its mostly service based now and presumably a lot of that is centred around the university in Sievertsdarp.
  • There's probably very strong codetermination laws for companies and unions are heavily involved in economic policy and as such there's probably very high union density but also the economy is still market based and probably quite freely so.
  • Education is probably all comprehensive schools and healthcare is some as yet undetermined universal system but not the Azmaran one.
  • The culture will be a mix of like super Bohemian stuff with just Low German culture and also probably a very noticeable working class edge but I'll write that when it's not close to midnight but also Lilienburg's wide embrace of counterculture due to its small size and educated young population under a liberal regime was what made it so fun so expect that here too.
