Historical context
The Scipianist ideology is a 20th century outgrowth of the Charnean Autarkist school of geopolitical thought, which generally supports the principles of political and economic self reliance as a means of insulating the geographic vulnerabilities by eliminating the external reliances common to the landlocked, arid regions of inner Scipia. Autarkism or the Azut School emerged contemporaneously with the rival Internationalist Agnannet School pravalent within the dominant AKE-led regime of the late Charnean Empire (1921-2023). Internationalist policies of integrating Charnea into the world economy and the political networks and cultures of outer Scipia and beyond were the governing principles of the state for decades of AKE rule under a policy which sought to cultivate economic growth through international commercial cooperation as a means of further the developmental ambitions of the state. By contrast, Autarkism had been discussed academically in the circles of the early Charnean modernists at the beginning of the Charnean nation building experiment in the early 20th century, but did not reach major prominence as Internationalism did. Autarkism would see a minor resurgence during the era of the Ninvite War due in large part to an international sanctions regime imposed against Charnea, which inflicted little economic damage but dealt a serious blow to the Internationalist school and forced the development of an indigenous arms industry and a more self-reliant and Autarkic national defense arrangement. This era also marked the rise of Scipianism as a wing of Autarkism developed by political theoreticians such as Iherhe Buzin and Anaba Iklan. In many ways, Scipianism served to provide a stronger ideological basis and historical justification for the principles of the Charnean Autarkists
