The June Monarchy (Chokashian: Червнева монархія), was the government of the Chokashian Hetmanate (Chokashian: Чокаський Гетьманат) between 1881 and 1900, established by Mykola III. The June Monarchy emerged during the rule of Antun I, whose rule was characterised by economic and administrative instability. Chokashia was in a financial crisis and had experienced a wave of separatist as well as leftist demonstrations and riots. When Antun I died in 1878, the question of succession was raised as he had an underaged son. In his stead a regency council was placed to rule the country. The leftist and separatist protests culminated in 1881 and sparked a reaction from the military, the naval forces in particular who were known to have fierce nationalists in their ranks.

On June 2nd, Duke Mykola Tereschenko, the head of the naval forces of Chokashia siezed power in a coup and proclaimed himself the Hetman of Chokashia. During his rule Chokashia would experience a period of stability and economic rebirth. The regime turned into an absolutist monarchy characterized by prosecution of leftists and democrats as well as separatists.

In the late 1890s Chokashia started experiencing slow economic stagnation. Predictions were that Chokashia would have to lower the number of its naval and land forces which had a large impact on the country's economy, otherwise Chokashia would go bankrupt in 5-10 years. Mykola III saw a solution to this to expand the trade of Chokashia, throught the Gulf of Alemmania. This couldn't bring the economy of Chokashia back on it's feet on the long term due to high tariffs of Liiduria which had rights to a passage in the central part of the Gulf.

A series of incidents, known as the Tax War, happened between Chokashia and Liiduria ultimately leading to the outbreak the Great War in the Northern Parts, when Chokashia, allied with Hytekojuznia and Doscereiche invaded Liiduria.
