In response, Esteban Rodrigue founded the Conservadores in 1860, consolidating the right-wing elements of the former OMI. The history of political parties in Bentho began with the founding of the Organización Movimiento Inofensivo (OMI) in 1851, the country's first political party. Initially, the OMI encompassed a broad spectrum of political views, but internal divisions eventually led to its fragmentation. By 1859, significant ideological rifts had developed, particularly between the left and right factions within the party. The left-wing members, feeling marginalized by the increasingly dominant right-wing faction, broke away to form Libertadismo. This new party positioned itself around the center-left of the political spectrum. In response, Esteban Rodrigue founded the Conservadores in 1860, consolidating the right-wing elements of the former OMI. The emergence of these two new parties marked the beginning of a more defined political landscape in Bentho, with Libertadismo representing the center-left and Conservadores encompassing the entirety of the right-wing.
