Empire Builder III is a 4X grand strategy video game developed by Cyberry Studios and published by the Cyberry Techorporation. In Empire Builder III, players control a civilization from basic settlements to major powers and achieve military, scientific, and economic dominance over human and AI opponents. Players are tasked with exploring and colonizing regions of the world, as well as discovering foreign empires with which they can later engage in diplomacy, trade, or war with. A large part of the game involves scripted and emergent events, through which rebellions can occur that shift the balance of power, powerful criminal organizations dominate trade, or artifacts tell the story of long-dead nations. The game was released for the Techdor XII on 17 August 2067, for the Home Entertainment System and CogPlay 6 on 3 June 2069, and Techdor XIII on 18 November 2073.

Gameplay

Empire Builder III is a real-time strategy with 4X and grand strategy elements, taking place on a map of the world. Players take the role of a single a tribe in the beginning, referred to as an empire, with the goal of exploring and claiming land, colonizing suitable locations, and expanding the economy to outcompete rival civilizations. The relative power between two empires is based on four factors: territory, technological progress, military prowess, and economic strength. Players can choose to focus on one area or go for a balanced approach, with the goal being to either dominate the foreign empires or ally with them.

A major portion of the game is determined by the empire that one plays as.
