The HF-37A3 Voodoo Child is an aircraft that was among the first collaborations between Marquesan and Anagonian industries. Meridon played a pivotal role in assisting with back-end development, providing airframes from its then-new Gruening F5M Lynx and mid-aged Ausaine F4M Wraith for both technical analysis and, later, development of the airframe for the Voodoo Child. The HF-37 Project was initiated in 1969 CE by approval of President Forest Holloway as a means of postwar rapprochement to reestablish good relations between the Marquesan Shogunate and the Confederate States, and provide an avenue for future diplomatic initiatives to transition the two powers from prior enemies to future allies. The addition of Meridon assistance streamlined the research and analysis process, providing a clean way forward for production and testing. The HF-37 was met with multiple variants, serving dutifully with the Marquesan Armee Volante until 2009 and later being upgraded to its A3 variant where it continues to serve the Confederate States Military in modern times.
Description
In early 1969, the Confederate Navy faced significant challenges producing an aircraft that could adequately provide close air support. Conversations were had between Marquesan and Anagonian engineers and, after consulting with Meridon engineers about the problem, Anagonian engineers came up with a solution. By combining the strengths of both a then-concept F5M Lynx and in-production F4M Wraith, the navy could build an airframe designed around close air support operations. By late 1965, all three nations were heavily involved and invested in the construction of the HF-37 concept. By 1968, test aircraft were developed and produced and by 1969 the HF-37 was in full production. The HF-37 served dutifully with the Marquesian Armee Volante from 1969-2009, as well as various other nations across Esvanovia. The Confederate States Military routinely upgraded its stockpile of HF-37's, or produced new ones, between the active years of its operation up until 2009. In October of 2009, the Confederate Navy introduced the HF-37A3 variant of the Voodoo Child with updated avionics and payloads, ensuring that the HF-37 would continued to be used for decades to come. The Voodoo Child is currently the Confederate Military's primary Close Air Support aircraft and is primarily utilized with the Confederate Navy, however squadrons of HF-37A3's are stationed in land-bases to provide operational support across Anagonia.
