Coshaqua (Waldish: ᚴᚮᛋᛃᛆᚴᚡᛆ, Kosjakva), officially the Free State of Coshaqua (Waldish: ᚠᚱᛁᛚᛆᚿᛑᛂᛏ᛬ᚴᚮᛋᛃᛆᚴᚡᛆ, Frilandet Kosjakva), is a sovereign state in Elia Australis. It lies between the Medan Ocean to the west, TBA to the northwest, TBA to the northeast, the Alconian Ocean to the west, and the X Ocean to the south. Coshaqua's capital is Sankt Halvard and its largest city is Mariesfjord, with other major cities including Fossenvik, Kiskamek, and Ausatenog. With a population of more than 88 million and a total area of XXX,XXX square kilometers, Coshaqua is the Xth most populous and Xth largest nation in the world.
Indigenous peoples have inhabited Coshaqua for at least 12,000 years. Both Falland and Waldrich established colonies on the Coshaquan west coast during the 16th century. The two powers fought a series of wars over their Coshaquan colonies during the 17th century, culminating with the cession of Fallish Coshaqua to Waldrich in 1681. Following the Twelve Years' War, tensions emerged between Coshaquan settlers and the Waldish metropole due to disputes over taxation and self-government. In 1803, Coshaquan rebels staged an uprising against the colonial government known as the Nybyggerkrigen. Although the uprising was ultimately suppressed, Coshaqua was subsequently granted increased autonomy that temporarily reduced antagonism.
Modern Coshaqua is considered to be a great power. It is a developed country that ranks highly in measures of quality of life, health, education, and economic freedom. The nation boasts a high-income economy which is the second-largest economy on the continent by total nominal GDP. Coshaqua is generally considered to be among the most mature liberal democracies in Elia Australis, with strong protections for civil liberties and high political stability. It possesses the Xth largest military force and Xth highest defense budget in the world, and operates a blue-water navy with global power projection capabilities. Coshaqua is a founding member of the United Congress, TBA, TBA, and TBA.

History
Prehistory
- Humans arrive at least 12,000 years ago
Colonial period
- Calesian contact in 1510, Falland establishes the Colony of South Elia in 1554
- Waldrich establishes the Colony of New Forsmark in 1571
- Several colonial wars as both Fallish Coshaqua and Waldish Coshaqua expand
- Waldish–Fallish War (1709–1712) breaks out over colonial tensions, Falland cedes its possessions to Waldrich
- Tensions with the metropole spill over after the Twelve Years' War, leading to a failed revolt known as the Nybyggerkrigen
- The colonists are too weak/fragmented and lose the war, but gain concessions that allow for increased autonomy, lower taxes, and self-government
- Coshaqua begins to industrialize during the first half of the 19th century
- The First Cuthish War reignites tensions with the metropole, which increases taxes and conscripts Coshaquans to support the war effort
- Coshaquans are outraged at being asked to fund and fight in a war in Calesia, and demand independence
- A standoff ensues between colonial and settler forces and some clashes occur, but Waldrich is losing the war with Falland and has neither the will nor ability to quash the nascent rebellion
- After a series of negotiations, independence is declared on 2 April 1866
