Metal ages (500BC - 4th century)
During the 5th century BC, Nordhavnish had settled vast majority of it's countries' unforgiving terrain and with metallurgy being widespread and agriculture, withing the limits of the climate, blooming, along with fishing, the first city states were starting to take shape. The most powerful of them being Stormvik due to it's strategic location in the Storfjord, gifting it the ability of natural harbour protection and fertile lowland of Børdalen around the city, resulting in population boom, thus becoming the largest city state to exist in that time, holding its importance to this day.

This however allured to the Nordhavnish, who started focusing more and more on the possibillities that the sea travel offerred.
Raiding era
With this realization, the city states started investing into their early fleets, leading to yearly raids sometimes between each other and to nearby territories , mainly Aleni, led by the need for slaves to work in either agriculture, mines, or crafts needed to make raids possible, such as helping with boatbuilding by cutting down trees or sail making. Geography
Environment
Altough primarily a rocky northern climate, Nordhavn has three large fertile lowlands: Børdalen ("Fertile valley"), Åkerlyst ("Field of plenty") and Livsmark ("Land of life"). On the northern side of the country on the Islandet peninsula, from the Iskysten to Nordlys regions of the country, there are Tindefjellene ("The peak mountains) mountain range, spannning from Iskysten, continuing north in Nordlys near the coast and finally taking a turn south towards the Børdalen ("Fertile valley") region.
In the southern part of Nordhavn in the Steinkysten (English "Rock coast") region with the Høytfjellene (English: "The High Mountains") mountain range, which stretches almost from the coast and leads north east, partly creating a natural border with Aleni.
The Hvitt Hav
Hvitt Hav is the nord term for the Paisi ocean. The ocean envelopes the Islandet Peninsula as well as the coastal parts of Livsmark and Steinkysten, providing a valuable source of fish and fish related industry for the country. During winters, it has been observed that the water north of Stor øy freezes, thus leading to the name of "White Ocean", as the snow covered ice resemles an endless ocean of white.
Tectonic activity
Due to Nordhavn being situated on the Stor tallerken tectonic plate, it harnesses geothermal energy from the still active tectonic area, vastly contributing to the fact that Nordhavnish ports do not freeze during the winter, making trade and mining operations possible throughout the year. On the western coast of the Islandet peninsula, geysers are a common sight, resulting in the creation of multiple spa centers and national parks.
Administrative divisions
Nordhavn is a federation of 6 metropolitan states / regions (in Nord named "Fylkes") and one overseas state on Stor øy. The mainland Fylkes consist of: fylke Børdalen , fylke Åkerlyst, fylke Livsmark, fylke Iskysten, fylke Steinkysten and fylke Nordlys, while the overseas state bears the name of fylke Havsøya.
