The Cabinet of Ministers of Lihnidos is a part of the executive branch of the Lihnidosi government comprised of a number of government ministers and other officials. Most members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Lihnidos serve as the head of one of the imperial ministries. The Cabinet of Ministers of Lihnidos currently has twenty-seven members, eighteen of which head an imperial ministry or department. The current head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Lihnidos is Prime Minister Fotis Raptis. The current cabinet took office on 5 November 2018 after the 2018 general election. Raptis's Conservative-National Alliance lost their absolute majority in the National Assembly, but following a confidence and supply agreement with the Populist People's Party was able to remain in government.
Appointment
Government ministers, also known as Secretaries of State, are typically nominated and appointed by the Prime Minister of Lihnidos and approved by the monarch and National Assembly. All Ministers who are nominated to hold the position of a Secretary of State must be a member of the National Assembly. Other members of the cabinet who do not hold a position as a Secretary of State are either non-partisan members appointed solely by the monarch or Crown Council or are members who hold other administrative offices. Those who do not hold a position as a Secretary of State must still meet the requirements that are placed upon those looking to run for a seat in the National Assembly. Those requirements include: being twenty years of age, a citizen of Lihnidos for five years, and be able to speak fluent Hellenic.
Functioning
Meetings of the Cabinet of Ministers are chaired by the Prime Minister, and are required by law to be held once a month, although happening more often. On occasion the opposition leadership will be permitted to attend cabinet meetings if the meeting pertains specifically to their agenda. The monarch is always permitted to attend meetings of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The cabinet may meet on occasion with only a select few ministers attending. These meetings are chaired by the Prime Minister and are used to discuss specific information about attending minister’s ministries.
The Cabinet of Ministers has the responsibility to carry out the day-to-day functioning of the government of Lihnidos in conjunction with the Empress and National Assembly. The Imperial Ministries headed by the Secretaries of State are divided into important sections of government functionality and are meant to be managed individually with each minister in-charge reporting to the Prime Minister.
Ministers
The Cabinet of Ministers has a total membership of twenty-seven individuals, although only nineteen are considered to be government ministers and only eighteen hold the position of a Secretary of State. Alongside the Prime Minister and assisting ministers (or Secretaries of State) are members who hold positions that are managed solely by the monarch or are positions that are not managed by Prime Minister and do not have a portfolio.
