The Armed Forces of Mundaqar are the legal armed organizations in Mundaqar that are part of the Unified Command (formally Unified Command Structure Agreement), which is the military agreement put in place after the end of the Mundaqari civil war to suppress dissident militias. The states objective of the Unified Command is to protect the transitional government of Mundaqar, which has since become the defacto government. As a result, the Unified Command operates at the military arm of the Federation of Mundaqar.
The first unit of the modern Unified Command was the Republican Guard, which was a paramilitary group formed during the War of Ten Thousand Leagues to agitate for an anti-monarchist revolution. Since the civil war, however, the Republican Guard has not been active outside of police actions along with the rest of the Mundaqari armed forces.
Today, the Republican Guard is the professional corps of soldiers, forming special units of the other branches of the military. The army, which is mostly composed of conscripts, serves a ceremonial role in the continuity of the transitional government. The air force and navy have received more substantial investment and are evenly divided into professional units, Republican Guards, and conscript units.
