The 1940 IWAF World Cup took place from 27th August to 9th September 1940 in Aunrey. Aunrey was selected as the host nation due to its previous success in continental football tournaments in Groja, and the fact that the country was celebrating its 100th birthday on 27th August 1940. 13 teams entered the tournament, and they were from Groja and Dorehima. Aunrey later won the cup in the finals 2-1 against Maiaria.
