The monarchs of Vurthungria ruled de jure over the nation's historical territories over three (or four, from the traditional native view) distinct periods in its history, the First Kingdom, the Second Kingdom, and Imperial Principality, which in the traditional Vurthungrian historical perspective is divided into the Aesculian and Independent Periods.

This list does not include the mythical rulers of the Vordons Confederacy from late antiquity, or unsuccessful claimants to the throne not typically listed as part of the Vurthungrian monarchical lines. It additionally does not include the Aesculian-sponsored Prefetti who controlled the regions of modern Vurthungria prior to its reorganization as the Imperial Principality in 1798.
