The Freethinker Peacekeeper Corp is a component land force of the Freethinker Royal Armed Forces, operating as an expansive disaster relief force and gendarmerie for use in foreign crisis and at home. It also has a secondary role in providing foreign occupation forces, law enforcement duties, and repatriation and re-education of slaves and other vulnerable populations.
The force is the newest of the Freestian uniformed services, and is the first federal gendarmerie implemented by the Freestian Commonwealth. It was set up in the wake of the Fargon Crisis as the Freestian Government realised the need for a specialised intervention force to operate under circumstances where civilian policing and supervision were considered more appropriate than a heavier, fully-fledged military presence.

One of the sub commands of the Peacekeeper Corp is the Victims of Enslavement Reintegration Unit (The VERU), a large grouping of several corps with dispersed support formations tasked with supporting the recuperation and re-education of survivors of slave holding regimes. This includes the slaves themselves, disposed persons and others held under some form of coercion or bondage. The unit has a an unlimited area of responsibility, and can be deployed in any strength to any theatre at the command of the Freestian MoD. It is sometimes also used as a supporting function in coalition operations. The unit also helps the Freethinker Ministry of the Interior integrate formers slaves that have been granted sanctuary by the Freethinker Commonwealth. As the Freestian Government automatically grants right of residency and freedom for any slave or indentured servant (or similar persons) that arrive on its territory, this remains a constant tasking.
Reporting to HQPKC, the VERU is comprised of a command administration formation, and four large self contained Corps; the Corps of Resettlement, who handle the practical matters of housing and transporting former slaves until discharged from the protection of the VERU, the Corps of Advocacy, who sort legal matters, engaging personal responsibility, sorting residency requirements, and post-VERU engagement care, the Corp of Empowerment, which is comprised of teaching, healthcare and other staff who primarily deal with any health issues, treat any long term conditions and bring education standards up to at least a primary level (secondary level education onwards is provided by respective government adult education services), in effect, provide the material education needed to function in a modern society (follow on support once in free communities is provided by the Corps of Advocacy), and lastly the Corps of Justice Enforcement, which deals with returning slave's priori property, seeking recompense from slavers bought to justice, and generally working to ensure that ex-slaves rights in countries where a regime change has been forced are implemented. Although labelled Corps, these are not traditional formations in the military sense and are more multi-discipline agencies within a paramilitary rank structure for its personnel. Generally speaking, multi-Corps teams work alongside the rest of the PKC and other Freestian forces in supporting occupation and reorganisation of former slave societies alongside humanitarian work.
