Cronnea, officially the Federation of Cronnea, is a totalitarian dictatorship under a one-party rule. It has borders with Zeritae (officially The United Republic of Zeritae) to the north, and Unikornia (officially the Republic of Unikornia) to the south. Cronnea's history dates back to the founding of the Duchy of Cronnea around the year 570.

Cronnea hosts a population of around 47 million, concentrated in the western part of the country, as the eastern part of Cronnea remains largely undeveloped. 96,7% of the Cronnean population identify as ethnically Cronnean, 2,2% identify as ethnically Talnychian, and 1,1% identify with other ethnicities.

The current political structure of Cronnea is based on the revolutionary constitution of Cronnea written and adopted in 2008, after the end of the Cronnean Civil War in 2007. It is based on socialist values and is written to ensure that the Cronnean National Progress Party, the CNPP, stays in power eternally (although the CNPP does not admit this).

History

Early History (570-1296)

In the year 570, a medieval lord referred to as Tomislav founded the Duchy of Cronnea and made himself duke of the new country. It was a mixture of different cultures, and they didn't get along too well. The first years of Cronnea were troublesome, there were many civil wars and rebellions. In 718 the Duchy of Cronnea was reformed into The Kingdom of Cronnea. The new king, Yvon, managed to restore peace and stability within the country. Yvon would later wage many wars of conquest for Cronnea. He expanded the kingdom greatly during this time, doubling its size over his lifespan. Among the nations Yvon conquered were the Kingdom of Ornaja, The Duchy of Thylomo, The United Realms of Ultrania, The Kingdom of Halamar, and many smaller nations. He would earn the title Yvon the Great for his pursuits of glory and conquests for Cronnea.

However, Cronnea's newfound success was short-lived. After leading many successful wars of conquest and bringing Cronnea back on its feet, Yvon the Great died in the year 756. As Yvon had no son, he chose his wife, Amata, to be the new queen of Cronnea. Unlike Yvon, Amata was unable to keep the kingdom together and united. Many disliked the idea of a woman on the throne. There were also many who lost their loyalty to the throne when Yvon the Great died, as Yvon was a charismatic leader and united the people of Cronnea. Cronnea broke out into chaos and unrest yet again, and the country broke into three.

The Kingdom of Ornaja, a nation which Yvon had conquered in 739, seceded from the Kingdom of Cronnea. Cronnea then broke into The Kingdom of North Cronnea and The Kingdom of South Cronnea. The north was ruled by the queen, Amata. The south was ruled by an opposing king, Erik, a former general of Yvon the Great. In Cronnean history the time period 760-1100 is marked by stagnation, famines and constant wars. The years 760-1100 are often referred to as "The Cronnean Dark Ages", although some argue that this should be expanded to include the occupation and oppression of Cronnea and the Cronnean people under the rule of the Talnychian Empire.
