Description of Country

The Free Land of Otanga or for short Otanga is a small island in the Adriatic Sea. Otanga is located next to Italy, France, Switzerland, and Austria. To get there from North America you have to cross the Mediterranean Sea and find the circle in the middle of the Adriatic Sea. Once you see the circle you stand on it and then you go down into the secret island of Otanga. In Otanga there are two states and are separated by if you have no children or one child. You are only allowed to have one child in Otanga that is why they are separated. Otanga’s form of government is a Constitutional Monarchy that means that they have a king and a queen. The kings name is Phill Mitten and the queens name is Georgia Artec. They both listen to their people and make sure that everyone is treated equal. Their legislature is a parliament.

The landforms in Otanga consist of very few rivers, hills, and few mountains. The king and queen live in a castle that is located on the top of the tallest hill and if you want to see them you have to hike it. All of the rivers flow in sync and that is where their people get water from. It rains once every week and two times a week in November. There is no pollution and everyone respects their trash policy. The trash policy says that you can only throw trash into the garbage cans and if you don’t they will track you and put you in prison for 30 days. Everyone treats each other with kindness and if anyone doesn’t get along they are banned forever. Otanga used to speak Italian and Otan, but they moved on from Italian and now they speak Otan and Ger. Very few elders still speak Italian and they are valued to Otanga greatly. Otanga rarely goes to war but they once went to Italy for apparently stealing their language, this made no sense because they had said that they were going to share it. Otanga won the war and they ended up sharing the Italian language.

Economy

Otanga is allies with Shopping Valley, United Peace Mania, Qûwåńâñį, and Earium and they help in war if needed. Otanga’s military rivals are Santo Miko, Bananenboot, and Green Valley. Otanga doesn’t go to war a lot but if necessary they put up a fight. Otanga’s trade partners are Yimanga and Oliveu. Yimanga trades candy for lettuce, Otanga grows lots of vegetables but has no candy they get it all from Yimanga. Oliveu trades Amortentia potions for grapes. Otanga grows lots of grapes every year they are the most valuable grapes you can find. The Amortentia is one of the most valuable potions that is why they trade their grapes for it.

How to Become a Citizen

If you want to become a citizen in Otanga you have to complete 7 easy tasks. Those seven tasks are one, be over the age of 5. Two, take a test that has information about the country (changes for age level). Three, try the military for 3 days and if you do bad you are banned from becoming a citizen. Four, live in Otanga for a week and if you are not kind and get into fights you are banned from becoming a citizen. Five, pick from three blankets and if you don’t pick the correct one you are banned from becoming a citizen (you have two tries). Six, say your interests and if they don’t like them you are banned for a year before trying again. Seven, scan your hand so you don’t need a key card to get into Otanga. If you do all of these correct they accept you and you can live a happy life in Otanga.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities an Otangian has to follow are not very complicated. They have to pay taxes, taxes are not much because Otanga does not need a lot of money. School is mandatory from the grades second to eighth, and in high school only two years are mandatory but four agre suggested. Alcohol is banned in Otanga and if you are found with it you are banned. On the night of Halloween it is mandatory to go trick or treating, carve a pumpkin, and drink a hot chocolate. On the morning of Christmas everyone is required to open a present and drink hot chocolate. On the first day of summer everyone is required to drink a cup of lemonade and go swimming. All Otangians must treat everyone equal and be kind. On the seventh of March everyone must bring their blankets and hit chocolate outside and watch the starts with their neighbors. Otanga has many more rules but they are not as important.

Cuisines

Otanga has three very popular unique cuisines. The first cuisine is called strananella. The strananella is the inside of the actual banana carved out, it is stuffed with cut up strawberries and also has chocolate drizzle on top. The next cuisine is called the oysterna. The oysterna is oysters stuffed with raspberries, bananas, and sugar. The oyster is soaked in coffee before being stuffed. The last cuisine is called SPB&J. The SPB&J is salmon stuffed with peanut butter and jelly. All of these foods can be found at restaurants all over Otanga. All of the locals eat them weekly.

Tourist Attractions

Otanga has many tourist attractions. Here are the locals top three favorites. The first attraction is Ducky Beach, Ducky Beach is a beach right off the edge of Otanga. The beach has a rope swing, Italian ice stands, and lots of floats and water toys. Ducky Beach is always full of people. The next attraction is Swing Hill, Swing Hill is a huge hill that you have to climb up. On the top there are three swings on each side of the big tree in the middle. You can swing on the huge swings, there is also protection. Before you go on the swing you have a harness wrapped around you in case you fall off. The last attraction is The O’s, The O’s is the oldest house in Otanga. It was the first house ever there, you can see many old items there including a very old candle and pen. This house is very historical and is most likely more fun for adults. All of these attractions are visited everyday and everyone enjoys them, even locals.

School System

Otanga’s school system is not complicated and fairly easy for kids. Students are required to go to school from second grade to eighth grade for elementary through middle school. For high school students are only required two years of high school. Even though four are suggested only two are required. The teachers are chosen very well. Otanga makes sure all of their children have the best education. Students are not stressed to get work done and can choose which day they want a mental health day. They are allowed to pick one day every week. We interviewed students at all the schools in Otanga and they all seem to enjoy the school system.

  1. These are the titles as given in the Constitution of the Free Land of Otanga, Article X. The Italian version of the song is sometimes called O Otanga, aiuta voi gente, as in National Anthems of the World; and the English version "O Otanga, help your allies", as in Nain 6.
