Friðrik Heimirsson is a Borealian diplomat, foreign policy expert and politician who currently serves as the Borealian Charge d'Affairs to the Council of Esquarium. A career diplomat, Friðrik has served as the Legatus (the Borealian term for ambassador) to Sceathaney, Fjalland, Vjaarland and Tuthina, and has served as a Senator in the Senate of the Citizenry, a uniquely Borealian institution that has all legislative authority over all military and foreign policy-related matters, as well as a Member of the Esquarian Parliament. As Legatus to Fjalland, Friðrik helped create the Nordic Alliance in what is generally believed to be Friðrik's greatest accomplishment. Friðrik is also the author of several books, most notably Early supranational organizations: How the Esquarian Union and Nordanian League have served as the model for the Esquarian Community (which served as Friðrik's thesis and was published in 1999) and The Nautaryan Model: How Developing Nations can transition from Wartorn Dictatorship to Peaceful Democracy, which was published in 2015. A highly successful diplomat, Friðrik is widely-believed to eventually become the Consul for Diplomatic Affairs, a cabinet position that enjoys power over foreign policy-related matters. A polyglot, Friðrik is fluent in Borealian, English, Literary Tuthinan, Vjaarlandic, French, Esperanto and Lojban.
Political views
Friðrik Heimirsson has been variously described as either a democratic socialist or social democrat and is generally considered to be a liberal internationalist and Pan-Esquarian. He self-identifies as all four, stating in an interview that that his ideal world would be a global federation of social and liberal democracies united under the banner of the Esquarian Community. When asked who he votes for in elections to the Curia of Electors, Friðrik described himself as a "swing voter, struggling to decide whether to vote for either the Socialist-Farmer-Labour Party or the Social Democrats."
Personal life
Friðrik Heimirsson married in 2005 and has two daughters and one son. He has described himself as an avid stamp collecter and Esperantist.
