The Calradic Union, alternatively known as The Calradian Union or simply Calradia, is a transcontinental country that covers all of Calradia and part of Ortonia and Sanal, with numerous overseas territories. It is divided up into 37 subdepartments and sub-Kingdoms, and currently has holdings on every continent on the planet. People of Calradian descent are estimated to comprise almost 25-30% of the population of the entire planet.

Initially unified under the Calradic Empire under Alixenus the Great, it entered a general period of stability for around 900 or so years until the First Migration Period. Over time, the Calradic Empire gradually shifted from it's old system of Paganism to Rotamism, a dualistic and stratified religion. The Calradic Empire eventually entered a period of instability due to rapid demographic shift and began to splinter internally, shattering shortly after the Battle of Pendraic in 1077. After it's complete collapse in 1102 following the sacking of Saneopa by the Khuzait Khanate, Calradia entered a general period of warlordism and feudal infighting lasting for around 200 or so years. During the so-called "Dark Age of Calradia," various Kingdoms and feudal states fought one another while large groups of nomads and bandits razed and attacked cities, villages, and trading caravans. Beginning in 1257, the Middle Prophicies of the Rotamistic faith began to fulfill itself across the land, leading to a battle between an international force of Calradic Kingdoms and numerous foreign mercenaries and warriors, who beat back the forces of Necromancer Akhad Thell and Ecatha at the Battle of Dhirim. The aftermath of the battle led to the formation of a personal union between the Kingdom of Swadia and Kingdom of Nords and the establishment of a continent wide union, comprised of seven initial united Kingdoms; Swadia, Rhodokia, Vaegiria, the Nordic Marches, Sarrania, Battania, the Khergit Khanate, and Battania. in the aftermath of the Middle Prophecies in 1262, The Calradic Union expanded from Western Calradia to cover all of the continent and the entire area around the Marenostric Sea. Experiencing a Renaissance period of science and philosophical development from 1350 until 1600, the latter half of which saw the Union begin to expand overseas and form a series of colonies, most of Calradic history post-Middle Prophecies was spent competing against other colonial powers such as Balion and Geroia. Getting involved with all three of the World Wars (1895-1899, 1911-1917, and 1936-1946), the CU entered a period of isolationism following the rise of Communalism in the Western Confederacy, instead opting to wait out it's opponents during the "Muddy Wars" period that lasted until the 1980s when the Commune collapsed.

Calradia has around 5% of the world's population as of 2020, and is frequently described as one of the world's largest superpowers, along with Balion, Bhara, The Western Confederated Communes, and Dongqin. With a high very high HDI and high internal stability, the Union has been rated as one of the best places to live for decades and maintains that title going into the 2020s, due to a universal healthcare system paired with free and intensive university education. It maintains permanent dipolmatic missions in all but five nations, and represents itself at the INTLUNTAN, is a permanent member of the INTLUNTAN Defense Sectariat, the Global Trade Group, the G10, and G50. It's argued that the CU has the world's second or third most powerful military, and it maintains the world's fifth-highest military spending by nation. It is one of the few nations, and one of three superpowers, to still maintain the practice of conscription. In addition, the CU also maintains a large stockpile of nuclear weapons for self-defense. It has the second greatest number of INTLUNTAN Global Human Importance Sites.
