Edward I was the first King of Vionna-Frankenlisch from his coronation on Christmas Day 1814 to his death in September, 1838. He was the son of Francis, the last independant Duke of Grythshead and Emeline Poltov, Duchess of Teutonberg and the only ruler of the short-lived Kingdom of South Vionna. He was elected to his position by the nobles of the Lord's Congress, following the October Revolution in which the Frankenlischian First Republic was overthrown and the United Kingdom of Vionna-Frankenlisch was formed.
