The Freician are (pronounced: ah-rey) is the currency of the Country of Freice. It is a non-decimal currency, being divided into 50 poqe, and was introduced in 1968 in preparation for Freician independence the next year. The name is taken from Are katil, a tribe that occupied the north of the country prior to colonisation and which were traditionally seen as the 'first Freicians'.
Coins
In 1968, the 25 poqe, ₳1, ₳3, ₳5 coins were introduced, with the ₳10 coin introduced later in 1972 and the ₳20 coin in 1985. The 1 and 2 poqe are minted in bronze, whilst the rest are minted in cupronickel. The 25 poqe, ₳1, and ₳5 coins are round, the ₳2 is scalloped, the ₳10 is round with a whole in the middle, and the ₳20 is octagonal with a hole in the middle.
Freice produces various commemorative non-circulating ₳1 coins made for collectors, that feature different designs depending on the theme of the coin. These coins are legal tender but are not widely circulating within Freice. There have been proposals to introduce a circulation ₳1 coin, although this has not happened as of July 2021.
The design of standard issue coins depict:

Banknotes
Alongside the initial coins, banknotes in denominations of ₳50, ₳100, and ₳500 were introduced by the government. This was followed by the introduction of a ₳200 note in 1975, a ₳1,000 note in 1977, and a ₳5,000 note in 1987. These notes have featured various designs influenced by Freician nature and landscapes as well as notable Freician historical figures, updated with the introduction of new security features. The most recent 2017 series feature Nerje Seral, the popular Freician independence leader.
