The Knight-class fast attack craft is a small warship in service with the Imperial Castarcian Navy primarily designed for littoral combat, with secondary applications in naval combat against larger hostile warships. The Knight class shares a similar design philosophy to the more recent Rampage-class corvette, in that speed and stealth are prioritised, as well as survivability. The use of waterjet propulsion allows the Knight-class to have excellent manoeuvrability and a top speed of 45 knots, allowing for rapid and swift combat entry and exit, and the Knight retains the radar cross section of a fishing boat. Unlike its predecessors within the Imperial Castarcian Navy and many counterparts on the seas, the Knight is capable of defending itself against aerial threats with the RIM-116 RAM and the Phalanx CIWS.
However, as a fast attack craft, the Knight has poor seagoing qualities compared to larger capital ships and other warships such as the Rampage-class corvette, and also suffers from cramped quarters.
Originally, sixteen Knight-class vessels were planned and sixteen were constructed accordingly. However, five were lost in combat during the Great Castarcian War of 2009 and 2010. Therefore, after the conclusion of the conflict, five more were constructed and put into service in order to bolster the total amount of Knight-class warships back up to sixteen.
Between 2010 and 2012, Kheiastan ordered four vessels.
