History
Established in 2111 as an amalgamation of the Lebanese; Jordanian, Kuwaiti Qatari and Pakistani merchant navies, in 2114, the Emirati, Nigerian and Turkish Merchant marines were included. From 2111 to 2119, the Merchant Navy was involved in various wars. By 2119, the navies of every Muslim-majority country were included.
Legal basis
Al-Khilafah Merchant Navy personnel are considered civilians in peacetime but in wartime are considered a branch of the military, responsible for logistics of Al-Khilafah Navy personnel and equipment.
Military role
As well as the Merchant Navy being responsible for Naval logistics, most privateers are ex-merchant navy officers. This has been true since the Al-Khilafah Chinese War.
Economic role
Economists estimate that without the Al-Khilafah Merchant Navy, the government would collapse in two years. 44.5% of commerce is dependent on the sea, Al-Khilafah has the third largest merchant navy in the world accounting for 12.5% of the global merchant fleet.
