Summary

Mags (Jackson Cecil Harriett; Born 1979) is a student of Vermilion University and one of the Central Characters of Drifting Away. He is a student member of the Vermilion Theatrics Department. He considered to be a member of the Lyonnaise Boys clique. He is the eldest son of Jackson and Magdelene Harriett and the elder brother of Marley.

Biography

Mags was born in Lyonnaise in the State of New Monroe to Jamison Harriett and Magdelene DeVille. He was born out of wedlock in the midst of a trist that began between Jamison and Magdelene during Jamison's internship at the Lyonnaise Metropolitan Weather Center. Immediately after his birth, Jamison and Magdelene were married on the pressure of the DeVille family, and had another child named Marley. Mags initially met Kagsma and Havoc in elementary school, in the North Lyonnaise Elementary School. During the first 5 years of his life, Mags, Jamison and Marley lived with Magdelene above the DeVille Tailor Shop. At the age of 6, Mags was given an new oboe by Jamison, the same instrument Jamison used to play for Magdelene. At the end of Jamison's internship and hiring as a meterologist, the Harriett-DeVille household moved out of the DeVille livings.

During high school, Mags and Marley formed a band with Kagsma and Havoc called The Ralteers, based around the county of Ralts where the four would often escape to during the night. Alongside this time, Mags had a girlfriend, Janet. During his senior year, Janet and Mags had an extremely bad breakup that resulted in Mags being inconsolable for a week, something which still haunts him today about romance.

Now in college as the roommate of Kagsma and Mags, and the fugitive hider of Marley, Mags

Makarios (Alexander Nicholas Makarios; Born 1935) is a professor at Vermilion University and one of the Central Characters of Drifting Away. He is professor of the Vermilion Mathematics Department and the chair of the Mathematics Research Division. He is the eldest son of Georgia and Nicholas Makarios and the elder brother of Delias Makarios and Mary D'Amico. He is the surviving widower of Lydia Makarios and the father of Marilyn Park.

Biography

Alexander Makarios was born in Tesanna County in New Monroe to Diana and Nicholas Makarios, and is the elder brother of Delias and Mary. In his early age, he interacted greatly with his grandmother, Georgia Makarios. Often times Georgia would take Alexander to help her work while she worked as the head of the Mathematics Department in the Avoyelles County Academy. When Georgia was hired by Vermilion University to help lead their own Mathematics Department, the Makarites moved to Vermilion County with Georgia. Georgia would come to establish the Mathematics Research Division in Vermilion University, a private research division made of students and faculty. When Georgia died in 1954, Alexander went into mourning with his family. His mother, Diana, changed her name to Georgina in rememberance of Georgia. Alexander determined to follow in his grandmother's steps, and graduated Vermilion University before going to New Monroe Institute of Mathematics in Pelons County. During his time, he met Lydia Alto, an up and coming young mathematician and the valedictorian of her bachelor's class.

The two met in a graduate class on Advanced Statistics when engaging in a debate about the effects of chaos theory on the field of statistics. Eventually, Alexander and Lydia began dating. At the insistence of Georgina, Alexander and Lydia did not do anything extramarital. The two married in 1967 and had a daughter, Charlotte in 1968. Makarios and Lydia later would see Charlotte get married to a man named Jackson Olsen. In 1999, Lydia died on a hiking accident on the Central Monroe Spring Trail, leaving Makarios a widower. Her death affected him greatly, causing him to briefly retire.

Chestnut & Hazelnut are twin brothers that are students of Vermilion University. Both of them are part of the Student Life but have different interests. They are generally seen together as they both are student members of the Literature Department, but Chestnut is a member of the Vermilion Royals football team while Macadamia is a member of the Vermilion Elite Chess Team.

Charles Dresden

Charles Dresden (born XXXX) is the former husband of Luann Bouvier and the father of Frederick Dresden. He is also the elder brother of Richard Dresden. During his time in Lyonnaise he worked as an investment banker in the County of East Lyonnaise while having a protracted trist with Luann Bouvier, an aide to the Governor of Lyonnaise, Gov. Silas. They were married and had Havoc as a child. When Charles reached the age of 40, Charles began to experience and was later diagnosed wih early-onset symptoms of Alzheimers. Later let go of his job, Luann divorced Charles and his brother Richard would later begin to care for Charles at his own expense.

Georgia Makarios (1869-1954), known as The Great Georgia and informally Red-Eyed Georgia, was the mother of Georgina Makarios and the grandmother of Alexander and Delias Makarios. Georgia was an expert in abstract algebra, probability and statistics and the head of the Avoyelles Academial Mathematics Department in before having Georgia. After returning to work, she moved to work as the head of the Vermilion Mathematics Department, where she later established the Mathematics Research Division.

Lydia Makarios

Lydia Makarios (1940-1999; née Alto) was the wife of Alexander Makarios and the mother of Charlotte Olsen. A gifted child of an impoverished family that lived in Joncherre County, she was selected to attend the New Monroe Institute of Mathematics in Pelons County after her highschool graduation. Lydia met Alexander Makarios in a graduate class on Advanced Statistics when engaging in a debate about the effects of chaos theory on the field of statistics. Eventually, Alexander and Lydia began dating. At the insistence of her own family as well as pressure from Alexander's family, Lydia and Alexander waited until marriage. She married Alexander in 1967 and had Charlotte in 1968.

Eric Montélier

Eric Montélier was the husband of Claretta Montélier and the father of Juniper, Dolce, Acida, Marjorie, Dolcina, Dahlia, Jacques and Cecil Montélier. A eldest of a litter, he was the strong-willed and intelligent son of an railroad entrepeneur that operated a railroad that went between New Monroe, Lynnesberg and Douglaston called the Monroe State Railroad. When he inherited the railroad out of college from his ailing father, he turned it around by providing more local transportation and capitalizing on the need for freight transportation along the Piedmont Strip. He married his highschool sweetheart, Claretta Ovadia, in 1978.

Eric died of unknown causes in 1997.

Maine Nettison

Maine Nettison (1919-1993) was the original owner of the Nettison Family Farm and was the husband of Monica Nettison until his passing in 1993. He was the father of Albert, Henry, Dimples, Hermoine, and Hermie Nettison. He was also the father of Hannah Horatio and Maine Nettison Jr. He was the eldest of his siblings and was the only one of his siblings who opted to not attend college, instead focusing much of his effort into the farm and helping his father, August II, with the farm. After the death of August II and the return of some his sibling, Maine continued to work on the farm as August II had before. During this time, he was encouraged by his mother, Coco Nettison, to have children. When his brother Lionel Hutz returned, he had brought his wife and sister-in-law, Naomi and Monica Hutz. Both Naomi and Monica were citywomen who were originally part of a family made of lawyers and attornies, Maine fell in love with Monica and eventually married her. They would eventually have seven kids and much of their life was spent on the farm in Avoyelles. Before he relinquished his control of the farm to Monica, he had began to purchase prospective land in Tesanna County and Vermilion County.

He died in 1993 due to natural causes.

Ruth Nettison

Ruth Nettison (1921-1956) also known as Ruthless Ruth, Rutherford Daniels or JoJo Daniels was the younger sister of Maine Nettison and the most notable of Maine's siblings. She is considered to be one of the spinsters of the Nettison family. She was the most illtempered and unbehaved of the Nettisons during her early years. She got into several altercations during her middle school years and was eventually expelled due to her tempermant and violent behavior. When she turned 18, August II and the rest of his siblings elected to kick her off the farm due to her mistreatment of the youngest of her siblings, Irving Nettison. She fled to Piedmont County where she became involved in the execution of illict political activities. When she was found out, she started a fire that engulfed the town of Little Port.

Monica Nettison

Monica Nettison (1924-1997; née Hutz) was the wife of Maine Nettison until Maine died in 1993.She was the mother of Albert, Henry, Dimples, Hermoine, and Hermie Nettison. She was also the mother of Hannah Horatio and Maine Nettison Jr. She was one of four offspring of the Hutz family, a unnoticably small family of lawyer and attornies that lived in the state of Lynnesberg. She became a writer at 21 and never attended college. When her sister Naomi went to college to acquire her legal degree, Naomi met Lionel Nettison and later married him.

Henry Nettison

Henry Nettison (born 1950) is the second son of Maine and Monica Nettison, and the second of the seven Nettisons. He is Dimples Nettison's elder twin brother. He is considered to be one of the bachelors of the Nettison family. One of the Nettisons that remained on the farm, originally Henry wanted to become a writer. Having grown up on the farm with his twin brother Dimples, the two went to the same college as students at North Colmanor State University. Henry eventually dropped out due to poor preformance which caused Maine and Monica to cut off funding. Returning to the farm, he resumed working as a farm hand with Hermoine and Hermie. After Hannah married Horton and became a Horatio family member, Henry tried his luck at marriage.

Dimples Nettison

Dimples Nettison (born 1950) is the third son of Maine and Monica Nettison, and the third of the seven Nettisons. He is Henry Nettison's younger twin brother and is the husband of Eliza Nettison. He is the father of Lee and Edison Nettison. A college graduate in agricultural sciences, he returned to help Albert on the farm for some time once Maine became too old and ill to tend to the farm. When he was a student, he attended North Colmanor State University with Henry. However, Henry ended up dropping out and returning to work with Maine and everyone else. Sometime after Hannah was married to Horton and became a Horatio family member, Dimples entered a state of depression. He exited this stage of depression with the help of Hermoine Nettison, who helped introduce Dimples to Eliza Montague, a rather rebellious college youth looking to settle down. Eventually, Dimples and Eliza would wed and have Lee. When Dimples and Eliza had Lee, they moved from the State of Colmanor to the State of Lynnesberg where Dimples was hired by the Lynnesberg Department of Agriculture.

Dimples and Eliza would later have Edison, but the prospects within Lynnesberg became worse as their financial situation began to worsen with the sudden onset of Edison's birth. At the recommendation of Henry, Dimples and Eliza planned to return when Lee graduated high school. The time became hastily pushed when Maine passed the farm onto Monica, who subsequently passed ownership of the farm to Albert when the two became ill. After Maine and Monica passed away, Dimples and Eliza decided to remain on the farm. Lee since left the farm to pursue a transportation-industry career in the Monroe State Railroad.

Eliza Nettison

Eliza Nettison (born 1956; née Montague) is the wife of Dimples Nettison and the mother of Lee and Edison Nettison.
