Kaoro, officially the Federal States of Kaoro (Federacia Ŝtatoj Kaoro in Kaoroan), is a sovereign country. It is a member of the Coalition of Crown Albatross.
History
Totalitarianism military regime
On September 7th, 1972, a coup d’etat was performed that took over the Kaoroan government. Socialism was declared and the country shifted towards totalitarianism. Kaoro isolated itself and freedom of speech was actively being cracked down on.
Civil war and regime change
In early 1996, people protested against the regime and called for a democracy. Around 720,000 people marched through Kaoro City. The military was sent to suppress the protestors, however the marchers had been able to steal equipment and defended themselves. The government successfully retook Kaoro City, but with heavy losses. In response, the Fighters for Kaoro’s Freedom was formed and spread throughout the countryside. A deadly civil war followed where fighters in rural regions fought against the regime. The Kaoroan government controlled every road in the country & every urban center. In mid 1996, the state of Duvivo fell to rebel hands, showing a major turning point. The FKF took cities in North Kaoro and swept towards the costal cities. Kaoro City fell to the rebels in early 1997, and the Totalitarian Regime collapsed.
Post-regime
A transitional government was formed and began rebuilding destroyed infrastructure. The remnants of the fallen regime escaped to an isolated town and created a government in-exile as the Popular Front for Kaoroan Socialism. This group holds a small amount of territory in Northwest Kaoro and efforts to retake the territory have failed.
